Don't know if u did already but u need to upgrade your alternator wire. That is a must when installing h/o alternator. Im Running the same gauge I'm using for my amp which is 2/0

Really appreciate this. Very similar to my Avalanche, including the seat tear! Ha! Anyways, why did you have to connect a 12v (yellow wire) to the alternator? Thanks.

That’s one thing about a Chevy SUV/Truck those seats gone rip 😂😂😂. Thanks for checking out the video I definitely appreciate it. The reason for the 12v wire is because with that alternator the original plug does not fit. So they send a bypass which one piece plug into the factory plug and the other piece plugs in the alternator

@@CHEVYLYFEGARAGE As I suspected. I just put a new alternator in today. My son decided to borrow my truck, rev the engine up to 5k RPM resulting in my alternator suffering a heart attack! Are you happy with those battery terminals? I was looking at getting some as well. Anyways, hopefully my DLS Ultimate A3 and A4 Amps enjoy the juice once I finish my Big 3.

@@claytonmiddleton5997 oh wow those factory alternators really can’t take a beating. The terminals are pretty good. The only issue I had was the negative post on my yellow top was smaller then normal so I had to double up on the gap filler rings. The amps would definitely enjoy the big three upgrade as well as some other components.

Question, they say you have to run the negative under the sensor that regulates the amps to the battery. You know what I’m talking about? There is a sensor below the battery.

@@CHEVYLYFEGARAGE I'm asking all these questions because I'm upgrading my Alternator. I have a 2005 Hummer H2, I just did a E fan conversion and I put new halo led headlights and replaced all the old lights throughout the Truck. The truck also has an aftermarket radio/apple play and a security system that is wired through one of the injector wires. Never seen a security system like that. anyway, I'm getting low voltage at hot idle. It goes down to 12 or 10 sometimes. So, I'm, doing my research and watching all these videos. Seen guys replace the recharge wire to a 0 gauge and then adding another 0 gauge to the battery. Then other guys just leaving the OEM recharge battery and adding the 0 gauge to the battery. They say it is fine since you are already adding that 0 gauge to the battery anyway. Make sense to me. Just want to do it right. I already bought the alternator and everything that I need to get this rolling. I think I will be leaving the OEM recharge wire. Thanks.

What size amp alternator did you install with the 400amp? I have 2 mechman 320 amps with a xs power 90ah battery in the back.. Not sure if im gonna need to replace one of the 320s for a 400 or need another battery though

Hey bro, just wondering what size belt did you go with? Cause I’m hearing that I have to go with a half inch shorter belt than stock. I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe, 5.3 and I’m about to install my 400 amp Alternator and big 3 upgrade. Thx

I got the Dayco 5060925 not sure of the exact size but it is shorter than the factory belt
