Awesome hike! I did this one Oct 2017, and the willows, oaks, and gooseberries/currants were lit up in fall color along Devil's Slide! Fall is the best time for this one!

Agree, fall is great on this trail. Planning on hitting it again in early Nov.

Yes! On the list... so many hikes to get to.. just prepping for some Sierra hikes so next few will be in the SoCal big mountains. Then have some National Park hikes coming up too... stay tuned....

That does look like a great hike! I think I will actually give it a try before the end of the year. Curious if you have any suggestions on great, relatively safe places to snowshoe in the winter months? I like Pinos in Frazier park, but would love to find some other options.
@Hikingguy5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yea it's a fun one, good for the fall too. I don't have snowshoe recommendations unfortunately. After too many winters hiking and camping in the North East, I generally avoid the snow now that I'm living in cushy SoCal. Might get out a few times this winter and if so, will share any good spots.

@@Hikingguy sounds good! And I knew there was something in your voice that indicated that you weren't a native.😉 Barely though! You're almost one of us. Sorry!!!😋

Does anyone know how many feet in elevation starting from Southridge Trailhead to the Fire House?
@hollyt16735 жыл бұрын
It would be nice if you comment about the time and temperature when you do the hikes. That will give me an clue of when to go andnot to worry about being overheated.
@Hikingguy5 жыл бұрын
Yea, as a general rule, I'll start every hike at sunrise. I'll hike the mountains in the summer, the desert hikes in the winter. Will try to incorporate that info into future videos though.

There were some small streams flowing on Devil's Slide Trail a few weeks ago. Check this really great site out for the status of trails, water, etc. in San J: sanjacjon.com
