Super nice! great structure, you keep you spine really straight even when grappling, and make very nice use of the belt and kua. That head snap down at the 0.35 mark was a thing of beauty. Hope to make it to Australia some day would love to take some classes from you. liked the use of the belt at 00;03 from the neck hold looked a lot like brush knee Cheeky little Tsai at 00:08 nice use of An at 00:20 liked that corner drop drop take down very smooth and controlled👍 This video really demonstrates how good taichi training can make every thing you do better.Respect to all.

One thing that is interesting about Tai Chi as a martial art is the emphasis on pushing people away. I can see how that would be useful in any kind of real world situation where people might easily trip backwards against chairs, railings, etc. For wrestling or even MMA though I haven't seen many cases where pushing someone away is what you want. Even if you're a striker, typically you'd only want to push them into striking range, not halfway to the other side of the cage. Although I imagine if you're good enough to off-balance them at will, it is probably quite discouraging psychologically…

Think of it this way...A well connected push can easily be translated into a strike instead. Or the off balancing sets up devastating strikes when your opponent is trying to find their feet. Like in dirty boxing.

Another thing to consider is in a self defense situation you want to create space. If weapons (especially blades) are a possibility you do not want your opponent close to you (unless you have the blade of course). In the 19th and early 20th century China, blades were very common see Shioda Gozo's autobiography for accounts of street fighting in china during this period.. in that situation the more space you create the better. Psychologically the creation of space also has its effects, an opponent having been pushed some distance must summon the mental will to across the distance again to engage. Silat has a lot of pushes in its forms and it is sometimes explained as creating space which creates time which allows you to draw a weapon. the Ring is different, you're both there to fight, and the battle is for controlling the space to get your preferred distance, there is no benefit to be gained to push an opponent across the ring. by mutual consent you're both going to come back to the centre of the ring again. Respect to all.

I think, it is another step to perform any skills, exersised in calm if you dont implicate mobility as basic of all doing. So it looks by far not so impressive as standing demonstrations. Isn't it?

Yes, demos always looks better. It's like a boxer on pads with his trainer. Not going to look like that in a real fight.

Cool idea but it would be better with a game opponent who has internalized wrestling fundamentals to the degree that you have internalized tai chi ones

Yeah there's probably a million+ people that can out wrestle me. Remember I'm a middle aged weekend warrior with a job, a family and bad knees. Here's me with a successful wrestling competitor. I'm focussing more on 'wrestling' in this clip though and less 'taiji' kzbin.info/www/bejne/ambcpYh5eZ5qiaM

@ Thanks for that example! To clarify, I personally would not be watching to watch you win or lose, but just to see how tai chi principles interact with wrestling ones. I think that tai chi is like a getting a phd in hand fighting and sensitivity; that stuff is part of any grappling art but tai chi seems more advanced in that regard. My own experience is only with wrestling and BJJ so I’m fascinated to start seeing videos of the interplay between more obviously external arts like wrestling and the internal ones like tai chi. Appreciate you adding to the dialogue
