Why are people still cancelling their own careers? Any movie director, writers, actors and actresses that attack fans deserve to be cancelled. I believe that Taika can do some good in the franchise if the Disney execs let him, the only thing that stops me from going full fangirl on this is that KK is still in the big chair. Even then, I don't how many more mega catastrophe's they can take, like surely at some point even Disney will want to make a profitable movie. Taika is very capable of pissing people off for a lot of good reasons, look at Jojo Rabbit. It's become a literal contest in Hollywood to see how much they can piss off the "fans" of franchises by wrecking it in the most creative ways,the fact that they're killing them off and making studios loose booku bucks doesn't seem to register in their heads (or even the studio higher ups) is amusing and disturbing all at the same time. For some reason Disney and many companies seem to pander to a small group of weirdos who hate women. Most modern media nowadays focuses on hating minorities and hating on women and disguising it in the form of "feministic thinking" and "woke". Rings of Power is a blatant example of this sort of thing. They deliberately ruined Galadriel's character and literally tried to make her seem evil for some benign reason and then making her look down upon men as lesser of stature. It's a really creepy way of writing and i genuinely think Hollywood has a real thing against women. It's a very sad age in the film industry.

Disney has sold franchises before. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was owned by Disney for a while, and then they sold it. If we want Disney to change its ways or sell the franchise to someone who will give it more respect, there needs to be a coordinated fan boycott of Disney content. Yeah. I was alive. I saw both in theaters on opening day. I thought they were both the greatest thing ever. I was dissapointed in how Empire Strikes Back ended, by not having an ending. But loved it otherwise. Had all the toys. It wasn't until the prequel that fans dropped out altogether. They weren't divided then, they dropped Star Wars completely. After that the only people who watched it were new fans. I still haven't seen them or the sequels. Didn't get back into Star Wars until the shows (streaming and tv). But yeah, no one was ever divided over any of the original trilogy.

I was there too in 1980 when Empire came out, and only remember absolute love for the film. Sure there might have been the odd negative review in some quarters, but nothing resonates with everybody. Empire was a hugely successful film at the time, both with the public and the critics.

@@starwarsbunker I agree. The History channel did this great Star Wars special that I love watching. The behind the scenes stuff of Star Wars is great. A lot of the books like Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno is really great. And it gave me time to focus on other stuff. Legend of the Seeker to me, is something I discovered by not devoting so much time to Star Wars and that show feels more like Star Wars then anything Disney has ever produced. I also wish George Lucas can do a commentary track on Once Upon a Time the TV series. Because of Joseph Campbell.

I've been watching a lot of the Star Wars Fan-Productions lately and it's just crazy (and kinda sad) how people with they're own, very low budget are able to create soo much better stories and legit star wars feelings, but not the actuall owners of the franchise. They need to give it to someone who has a big vision and a true love of the lore and a respect for what George built. As far as Marvel movie fans being Star Wars sequel fans, please don't lump us all together. I'm a fan of the comics and MOST of the movies but not really a fan of a lot of what their doing with Star Wars.

Just once in 2023, and I can't believe I'm saying this, I'd like to see someone working for Disney, WB, or Sony come out and say "we're doing this for the fans that have supported this franchise for decades". Just imagine if Kathleen Kennedy, Bob Iger, Kevin Feige, James Gunn, James Mangold, Takia Wakitit, Baby faced gerbil Ruin Johnson, Jar Jar Abrams, Leysle Hedlund, or Dave Filoni came out and said this anywhere. But no Takia Wakitit said he is gonna ruin people's myhos in a second baby with Thor Love and Thunder and look what happened. That dude didn't even know Natalie Portman was in Star Wars. He asked her when making Love and Thunder if she'd like to be in SW. Like he was offering her a prize or something. She thought he was joking, not realizing he was a fraud and fake fan. I don’t understand why he’s trying so hard for people to hate him. He told people that we were not going to like his next Thor movie and he was so surprised from the reviews, that nobody liked his new Thor movie! It’s like buddy you did this to yourself.

Taika is really not the guy you want to bring into a big established franchise like this. When he's making his own thing his way it's fantastic but, as we've seen with love and thunder, putting him into an established franchise without proper oversight and guidence it's the cinematic equivalent of throwing a bull in a China shop. It's almost like Rian Johnson all over again, they know how to make good movies but they don't care enough about these franchise to actually make them fit, but at least this one isn't one of the mainline films so it won't completely derail the franchise if it's bad.

With the mandalorian he just directed the episode and had John and Dave overseeing everything. That's completely different to a movie he has full creative control over. It's the difference between Thor Ragnarok and Thor Love and Thunder.

The Mangold movie, I'm quite sure, will document that the Force is in fact female, that the origin is from and by women, and that men illegitimately found a way to become involved with the Force. Something like they did with the origin of the Time Lords in recent Doctor Who, which they traced to a randomly found baby girl who was then studied by a femal scientist.

It's rage bait. A lot of these more vocal film makers know that the best way to get people talking about whatever they are working on is to be divisive. Unfortunately, it's also the best way to ensure that the more dedicated audience won't watch it. These film makers need better media training, or they need to stop taking marketing tips from internet troll culture. Taika is over-rated either way.

Reminds me of when they were filming Kenobi and almost immediately told the actress for Reva that people will hate her character because she's black. They think if they try to write off the fans anger and dissapointment, then it'll somehow make their backlash lessen when they trash more of the lore.
