My favorite iphone ever was the 6s. Starting at the upgrade from 5s to 6s, the bigger & better screen, slimmer & sleeker design, and the better photos it was great. I kept it for about 5-6 years and would still be happy using it today if it had updated silicon and battery. The 3d touch, small size, aux port and real home button (not haptic) was all amazing to me. I still have a SE3 for my work phone and its fine, but that 6s was just something special to me. I used an Iphone 8 for awhile after as well and the main problems I was having was battery problems. I think that led to phone over heating and screen dimming, very hard to use in the daylight for extended periods towards the end. It also ran kinda slowly, but the se3 doesnt seem to be as bad. I hope you enjoy the new phone, PS. I think the mous limitless 4.0 for the SE3 (which I assume would fit on SE2) has magsafe rings so you can still utilize your magsafe accessories. even though you dont like cases, I am thinking about getting one myself for my work phone.

Great video. I always hated big smartphones. 6'1 is too big for me. At home I have a 13 mini and a SE 2022. I must admit that as a communication tool, I prefer the SE 2022. It's the only smartphone that you can really use with one hand and without having to look at it. - Single use On/Off button - Swipe Up and Swipe Down are more convenient than Swipe Left and Swipe Right. - You can use TouchID without having to stare at your smartphone. As much as I hated the format of the iPhone 6 when it came out, I now find the SE2/SE3 perfect. Minimalist, powerful, with enough battery for all those who consider that there is a life beside social networks and youtube. OK, the 13 mini is more compact, it has a nicer screen. But I hate the big photo lenses that prevent the smartphone from lying flat and that make the 13 mini thicker than the SE2/3.

@sparky6757 Жыл бұрын
I think the SE is a great phone if you like the old form factor - small, dedicated home button, touch ID, all things that some people genuinely prefer over the modern equivalents. But for me, I considered my next upgrade being an SE, and I just couldn’t justify it. I’ve got an XR that’s getting a little rough around the edges, and the pain points (battery life after 4 years of use, camera, big bezels and small keyboard) were things that would get *worse* if I went for the SE. I don’t like the small form factor, I don’t like the home button anymore, I hate touch ID on my iPad Air 5, and if the SE 3’s battery brand new is like my XR’s battery life after several years of use I don’t wanna see what it’s like in 5 years. But for you? Best I can tell, it seems like a great fit. It does the basics of productivity on a phone, and it does them well, while not giving you the bells and whistles that make it easy to surf social media all the time. It’s all a matter of what you want, personally I think buying the SE because it’s cheaper is a bad idea when a budget-conscious person is gonna be using each phone for 5ish years so the price difference per month isn’t much - but it grnuinely fills a niche in the market, there are people who are genuinely better off with a smaller and simpler phone than with a 6.7 inch display and 3 cameras.

hate to be the bearer of bad news but it doesn't, in fact, work like new after a battery change. i also have an SE 2 and had the battery replaced last year but still had issues immediately after the fact. the old chipset gets increasingly more power-hungry for the small battery with each software update. the hardware just can't keep up - in fact, after less than a year since the replacement i'm already down to 85% battery health even though i'm very careful with usage

Great point about limiting phone use by decreasing battery size/capability. I switched to SE1 from 12Pro for this reason (and for the much smaller form factor) and am glad its battery only lasts 1-2 hours with significant use on iOS 15, it helps me just not use it much. I also main a 5S on iOS 9 which I use more than the SE1, but mainly for simple tasks like reading and as a music player. My screen time has gone down significantly despite maining two devices. Technically, watching videos on my iPad "makes up" for that screen time decrease but I mainly use that for multitasking while doing other work. My phone path in the last 4 yrs has been Xs max, 12 mini, se2, 14 pro, and later - 15 (something) this fall. My plan is the regular but im seeing if the pro wows me with its camera or features. Anyways all of the above to say that i know what a “quality” phone is. And amongst all of them, i loved my mini and se2. If the se lineup/mini got type C, i wouldnt have gotten the 14pro. I am a small phone type person, but even so the experience on a small screen to bigger screen doesnt change all that much other than viewing area when playing games, watching movies or reading. Obviously it helps when consuming a bunch of media, but if youre busying working or doing something else, that benefit doesnt truly apply. The se isnt the better at anything. But other than poor battery life (which yea it truly does die fast) it isnt missing any experience. Its much like the regular ipad or mini or air vs the ipad pro. The chips might be different and pro motion exists, but at the end of the day the experience is mostly the same. Now if youre a magic keyboard or stage manager user, the higher ipads do make more sense. But if not the cheaper ones are fine. If youre a camera enthusiast or must have the biggest screen and best battery ever, sure the pro max is better in every way. But if all that doesnt matter to you, the se is more than enough. While id love a return of an iphone mini with type c, im more holding out hope for the current design of se to just change to type c and do nothing else.

There is no difference in the screen quality between an Iphone XS Max and an Iphone 12 - only an iPhone 13 Pro Max has the 120Hz pro motion display.

I only ever had the iPhone 6s+, the Xr, the SE2, and now the 12 mini. Except the 6s+, no other phone was a top tier model because I found value in the cheaper options, or I preferred the form factor. Like Drew, I’m not looking to use my phone a lot of the time, so the other guys have always been more attractive. I only switched from the SE 2 to the mini because of its addictive design call back to the older iPhone 5s.

I miss the rounded edges from this era. But if I wanted a smaller iphone, I’d probably get a 13 mini

All I can say is… *Good luck.* Just switched off after 2 years. Take REALLY good care of it’s battery. It’s great in every other way otherwise :)
