你們吃的是台灣的雪綿冰，是用牛奶、砂糖、水混合成的冰塊，再用台灣特別的刨冰機，刨成細長狀，口感極佳。這間冰店是高雄百年冰店，在地人也常去吃，他們賣的水果切盤也很有名，醃青芒果、蕃茄沾台灣特製醬油沾醬，你們可以吃吃看，是台灣古老在地吃法唷！鹽埕早上有很多台式傳統早餐都很好吃喔，肉粽、蛋餅⋯都有百年老店，我最喜歡「田記豆漿」這間店，還有「樺達奶茶（創始店）」「五十年杏仁茶（爆漿餐包）」都很有名，可以吃吃看❤❤❤

I am so inspired after watching this video, which is well presented with good content and excellent conversation between Chase and Shelby. I loved Chase's facial expression when he tried the intestine, which he described as having a good smell and taste. I also like to see Shelby without her sunglasses in the elevator going for breakfast on the 2nd floor. The continental breakfast has everything you need and looks pretty exquisite, too. Kudos to both, and another good video in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.

The shaved milk place is the inventor of shaved milk (there are a couple others that claim too but I am not a historian) in Taiwan. It is one of the OGs of the shaved milk/ice game. The mangos (when in season) are a must for the hot summer sun. Funny thing is that the store has 2 locations and are pretty close to each other. The one is 100% enclosed and there is not outdoor sitting. It might be too late but there is a really popular sandwich place around the corner (the name escapes me) and worth a try.

Boiled sweet peanuts is something you can often find in desserts there and it’s surprisingly delicious. I bet it’s an option you can add to the shaved ice. I usually like it in the tofu pudding dessert Taiwan has the best mango (and other fruits)!

Ingredients: Milk: 400ml Sweetened condensed milk: 120g Heavy cream: 60ml Water: 100ml Salt: 4g Sugar: 20g Instructions: Continuously whisk the milk, sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, water, salt, and sugar until the sugar and salt are fully dissolved. Pour the mixture into a container or mold and freeze it.

It's called Snowflake Ice. It's a special type of shaved ice developed in Taiwan. It's very light and fluffy and melts in the mouth and isn't too heavy. If you go back to Taipei, you need to try Smoothie House for their Snowflake Ice.

I find the condensed milk in Taiwan is not as thick and sweet. Flavor wise is also lighter. Whereas in the US, probably in Canada as well, the condensed milk is the same as the one used to make Vietnamese coffee. Very thick, yellowish color, and very sweet. So it's still condensed milk, just the lighter version 😊

16:03. That’s called miàn jin (麵筋), which is wheat gluten, and the red one is called douzao (豆棗). I couldn’t find their English names, so I guess they’re not very common in other countries. The doughnut is actually called a fried bread stick, and in Chinese, it’s called yóu tiáo (油條). Douzao, wheat gluten, and fried bread sticks are all common accompaniments for porridge. Fried bread sticks are also commonly eaten with soy milk or clay oven rolls. Anyways, your video is fun. Hope you have a great time in Taiwan!

It's not weird or strange to sprinkle salt on sweet food. In a lot of Asian countries such as Japan, Korea and Taiwan will sprinkle salt 🧂 on watermelon 🍉 to enhance the sweetness.

Condensed milk is added onto the ice. Not sure where you guys are from in the US, but you can find shaved ice in major cities with large Taiwanese populations

Youtiao or fried dough stick is better with hot soy milk. Not sure if that bowl of soy milk you got was hot or cold. It's the same idea as you would put them in hot congee or spicy hot pot. Regarding soy milk, you might want to try savory/salty soy milk if you haven't already. It's served in most soy milk breakfast places.
