Takaras philosophy seems to be that all highend collectables must be fragile. Their next line will be molded entirely in clear plastic, with chrome paint, specifically on the joints, pegs, clips, and tabs

I'm just joking. Chrome and transparent plastic are awesome when used effectively, but a lot of takara versions seem to use them without good reason, as if they added it just because they could.

Yes, A Dinobot with diecast feet, that spring out for transformation, cast in swirly gold plastic, with clear panels that reveal the chrome robot limbs, that fold up with elastic bands, all triggered by a delicate pin mechanism it the tail. We'll call it Shra... you know what, this has already gone to far without the pun... I'll stop now.

6:06 I'm not so sure about that. Unless I'm mistaken painting an actual hourglass shape would require the production of a paint mask (basically a fancy stencil for mass-production toys), which would probably cost more money. If that is indeed the case, then just painting the whole thing red would probably save money on the paint mask, and may even save on paint as well, because less is going to waste by staying on the paint mask to eventually be disposed of. Not an expert, though, this is based on something I read on TFWiki a while back.

+OptimusPhillip That sounds reasonable to me. I read that article too, and from what I recall each toy gets a restriction on the paint applications, only a specific number allowed. It's possible that area didn't get a paint mask because the paint masks for other areas, probably the newly molded parts, were deemed more important.

+williamjames88 I find it ironic that a site that once told me it doesn't like people using their image galleries for their own projects, which is what shut down Rushed Review, now uses a screen cap of my video without permission or credit (unless TJ Ortega is my name misspelled in which case... REALLY?). That said, before the review I noticed the gap as something that looked like it should be fixable and tried pushing the chest up father. After pushing as hard as I could without risking a break, it did not budge, so I concluded it wouldn't go farther. Trying again after all this, yes, the chest goes up farther. However, I had to push harder on the toy than I have ever had to do in the past to accomplish it, and even once in place, it does NOT lock in on mine and feels like it wants to move back to the previous spot, like the plastic is being flexed and trying to spring back. EmGo got one loose enough to accomplish this easier, on mine it was not noticeable and honestly still does not feel intentional, as there is no click once I got the chest higher up, while the position I have in the video does click into place. That said, thanks for the heads up but my review of the toy stands, if that chest movement is intentional, it's very poorly implemented, so the chest still has problems. And thank you Seibertron for an article shaming a bunch of reviewers just because we didn't want to risk break an expensive import.

+TJOmega The gap is caused by an error in assembly; her torso (head,waist, spiderlegs are fine) is backwards, the screw is supposed to be on her right side. Switching them around solves the gap as well as making it transforms effortlessly without worrying about her breaking, but that fix requires heating the rivets that holds the smaller spiderlegs and torso together :-(

Technically speaking, TJ, real spiders have their heads mashed into their bodies. It's called a cephalothorax. Where the body and head are one, while the abdomen remains separate. Spiders and certain Solifugids(SP?) being the only Arachnids I personally know of that have this body structure. All other arachnids have a single continuous body with no obvious segmentation, and no, Scorpions don't count as they can live without their tail, it's not part of their digestive tract outside of the venom in the stinger. Remove a spider's "tail," and the spider dies. There's your animal factoid of the day.

Fresh from the future, both of your wishes have been granted with MP46 Blackwidow (Blackarachnia's Japanese name) & War for Cybertron Trilogy - Kingdom Blackarachnia. Both are really nice, but the Kingdom Deluxe class figure does the spider mode a bit better than the Masterpiece.

@@DragoonMS I called it both times, cause they also made a toy accurate repaint. And as nice as the masterpiece one is, I couldn’t bring myself to get that one cause of the spider mode. I got the kingdom and third party legands scale Blackarachnia that do just fine

@@tgiacin435 Yeah, I got the Kingdom figure, and later pulled the trigger on a bootleg version of the MP that had the spider leg knees with pinned joints instead of the friction joints of the Takara. The spider mode itself is still pure garbage in how it's designed, but at least the pinned knees make it a bit more stable. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

@@DragoonMS I could never justify getting the masterpiece figures if they had such a deal breaking design flaw, especially when the main line figures are much better. I’m still crossing my fingers for a movie accurate beetle Bee. Just something so his doors can fold on his back. And maybe make better legs, and fold away the roof a little better. But I’d be happy with a 3rd party SS scale Bumblebee movie like the 3rd WW2 Bee. Instead we get a MP Bee with feet backpack windows, and doesn’t hold together

I just got this figure btw, the soft plastic is SO terrible. Im afraid of breaking her shins because the plastic is so soft it might just tear on me. So dont say takara is always better than hasbro. I dont know if you remember galaxy force starscream, but i will always hate how wasted the potential was for that figure.. the arms.. god..

+Algernon Kong Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime compared to Adventure. Prime had an extra gimmick in Japan if u didn't mind ports on your figure. They created the Masterpiece line. Takara came up with most of the toys Hasbro executives saw in 1983 which became the Transformers line.

In the original show you know how she had the "thumbed" claws right? what of they painted her thumb like that so that we could see her thumb as an abstract claw when you have the spider leg flipped over her hand? just ignore the black fingers altogether and take a look at the claw and thumb.

Ehy TJ, you know why is traslucent YELLOW plastic? And why Nightbird weapons are traslucent yellow plastic? They are gang-molded, that's why they save money doing this instead of gold/black plastic.

Plus, you know that spongy feeling? That, most of the time, is due to mold degradation. Out of America we tend to have the successive issues of the molds, for example with CW, and the figures are a lot spongy and can't hold well in vehicle mode, for example.

You're supposed to pull her chest up to cover the gap. Idk if anyone's informed you but there's a review out there that shows how to properly transform her. That gap on the chest/neck is not supposed to be there.

+TheJunierBug Check the comments, many have informed me. I've tried it since, it takes a frightening amount of force to close that gap and unless you have the tools to fix a misassembly on her, I wouldn't recommend anyone risk the toy just to cover that hole.

I really hope this gets released in the US for Beast Wars 20th next year, as because of it, this is probably the most likely of the three fembots that will ever see stateside release (as well as the fact they made a Primal for Legends too). Also hope they don't use the clear plastic should they use it for BW 20th.

In Japan, what we currently call Legends class Transformers are just the small scale toys of the current toyline, mixed between Adventures (RID 2015) and Legends (Generations). Only the original size Legends, what are now Legions, had a separate line name, EZ Collection.

Hmm, Takara really seem to have lost it a bit. I loved the chrome deco on some of their older designs, but choices like clear plastic for a head that is completely painted and supports no light piping seems completely off... I also can't say that I like this sort of mold cannibalization. Using an animated mold for a beast wars character is so terrible since the styles are completely clashing. The new chest part and some new paintapps are barely masquerading that fact. At least Slipstream somewhat looks like a prime character, but this is just really lazy. Oh and the spider legs on her boobs look like varicose veins.

Mulambo Legends is Takara's version of Generations. The size class called Legends has been changed into Legion.
