Күн бұрын

In this reel, we get adventurous with our snacking. We travel to Malaysia to get a waft of the sweet stench of durian, trade Cracker Jacks for a cup of toasted grasshoppers at a Seattle Mariners game, and get a taste of the Philippines’ delectable woodworms.

Many countries love fully ripe durian...Yes! some ripe durian give you bitter taste. I am from Thailand. We eat almost ripe durian with more firm texture. But you have to know when to cut it open coz, its all about expertise! Fully ripe durian smell really bad if you ask many Thais.

I would also love to learn from Wu Hsu Pi-Ying, the owner of "House of Unique Stink"! I love her passion and the way she educates as she speaks of her product. And I respect that she always starts of with good quality fresh vegetables for her brine! I normally see something that looks or sounds gross to me- and my mind thinks that's all it is- gross- in every way. But! Nope, I am wrong! This, and I'm sure tons of other products out there, are a labor of love to their creators! She just showed me that. That's why instead of just trying her stinky tofu, I would rather meet and learn from her for as long as she would let me. I feel, all the way over here in Arizona, USA lol- (thank you KZbin!) that she has a lot of wisdom to share with the world. ❤

I love how wholesome foreign chefs are it's like ya taste is one thing but the health of the person is the most important part, here in the states I'll have an extra large high fructose corn syrup with a side of ground-up pig snout and salt! That's not salty enough sir!

We have food just like amazon worms in indonesia. I think the grasshoper is to expensive $4 for such little cup. We have fried grasshoper too. It has 3 taste: salty, sweet, and spicy. It cost $1.5 for 100grams. For durians, indonesia has more than 10 kinds of durians and each kind taste different.

I always and will always love DURIAN ..esp. here in the Philippines island of Mindanao particularly in DAVAO CITY .. 🇵🇭 The smell is sweet scent to my nose ..the taste is far more better .. It is one of the fruits that we encourage tourists to try and taste them along with other uncommon fruits that many tourist don't know about like the milky sweet MARANG, DUHAT, KAMATCHILE, BIGNAY etc.

I love eating durian and it is my third favourite fruit. I started eating it since I was one and I got spiked quite a bit (it was painful back then). I always go to my grandparents' house to eat it and me and my grandmother ate most of it. It was her favourite fruit and she said nothing could change her mind about durian. When I was 11 or 12, my grandmother passed away on a Saturday night and I didn't know. The next day, we were preparing to go out and eat (that is what I thought) but my mom told me she had passed away because the fever was to intense. I was heartbroken and my knees were on the ground. Tears of sadness rolled down my cheeks and my mum hugged me. But, before she died. She wrote a letter and it said this, " Grandson, my time has come and I have to go. Be happy and eat durian atleast once a year to remember me. Love Grandma." I was actually tearing up typing this in.

I could listen to Juan Jose, the chef spreading the knowledge of Amazonian cuisine- I could listen to him talk all day! His language (not sure which language he is speaking) but it is just beautiful! I am probably one of the people who would be scared to eat the worm, but I know for sure that he could talk me into it, lol!
