checking out the 2024 model. This looks amazing and has everything I'd want right out of the box.

Agree - can even run 35s without touching the suspension. Basically the mid-size truck equivalent of the Jeep Rubicon. Chevy/GMC hit a home run with this truck. 👍🏻🇺🇸

We have plans to do a full build with it. It was just bad timing because we got ours right when our whole new toyota lineup showed up. Rock sliders and skids are coming out soon. Bed bars and roof rack are finished and on the site. Front bumper is next on the list.

2023-03-18: Picked it up Saturday, and spent most of the day getting that done, and getting traveling incidentals for the truck (TP, hand wipes, flashlight, shop rags, mechanics gloves, etc.). Sunday I had limited time to drive it because I had work training early out of town I had to pack for. But, I still managed 300 miles AND got to play in the mud and snow a little. The last car I bought was my 2010 RAV4 in Dec 2009, so, the difference in tech was daunting. I was driving down the road, and it started pouring and since there is no right stalk where wipers usually are, I had NO clue where the windshield wipers were…had to figure THAT out fast (on the backside of the left turnsignal stalk), then the windshield started fogging up bad, and had to figure THAT out (there are actually 3 buttons for where the air is directed, windshield, face, and feet but limited ability blend like in the RAV but there is a “Max” defrost button). So, that was kinda the end of Saturday. The second day I put almost 22 miles on, and even went in deep snow and mud (in “Auto 4WD, no lockers), and it seemed to do very well in the limited time I had. I think GM has an algorithm that limits total boost, and how the boost ramps up in the first “X” number of miles during break-in, because it felt REALLY sluggish, until you really got your foot into it, then it was kinda too much and spun the rears in the wet from a stop. I know the motor was pretty “tight”, but this felt more deliberate. And to be fair, that’s a perfect way to limit possible engine damage when the motor hasn’t been broken in yet. On my 2 recent motorcycles (2015 BMW S1000RR and 2021 KTM 890 ADV R) the ECU limited rpm for the first 1,000 miles I think it was, then the dealer reset it at the first oil change and you got full power and revs. That’s what it FEELS like to me anyway, since now at 300mi it feels like the boost comes on lower and harder, making it easier to get into traffic from a stop. It MIGHT just be the engine loosening up, but I think GM tweaked things during break-in from how it felt to me at least, and comparing it to the YT reviewers since I’m sure the press fleet was already broken-in AND I could find no mention of proper break-in procedure in the manual like there is on my motorcycles and I believe was for my RAV. I may have missed it, but I don’t think so since I went thru it a couple times, and will look again tonight. LOVE the shocks, they eat up EVERYTHING like it was NOTHING. Yes, it is kinda floaty on the suspension and those tires, and I’d HATE to have to try and make an emergency swerve at highway speeds, but it’s the best riding pickup I’ve ever ridden, WAY better than the 2023 Z71 I drove, where I could feel the usual unladen rear axle-hop. I haven’t gotten a chance to “Baja” it on the dirt yet, but will try it when it’s broken in in my opinion. The tech to me is a little daunting, too “screen-dependent” to me, I’d prefer more traditional controls for easy of use, but you figure it out with a little time. I DON’T like the fact that the engine has to be running to adjust headlight/foglight settings, AND it doesn’t seem to remember if you turn the fog lights on, you have to do that every time unless I missed something, so, THAT sucks, because you have to dig in the menu to do that. Oh and the “engine turns off at a stop” BS coming on EVERY time you re-start it after parking it sucks ballz, I’m hoping there is a way to have it remember that you don’t want it and make it remember that you DO want your foglights on every time your headlights are on. The Bose wasn’t in the one I bought, I WOULD have paid the extra $500, but, oh well, it still sounds pretty decent. Haven’t tried pairing it with my Walkman for tunes yet. Interior design and fit&finish are good…for a Chevy, pretty good overall, just not quite up to Metric or EU standards, but still more than nice enough for me. The weather sucked all weekend so I didn’t get to open the MOONROOF (they mistakenly call it a sunroof), but I could open the shade and get the sun thru the glass when it wasn’t raining. Gas mileage sucks, but, the motor’s still tight, and I think it’s get better based on vids I’ve seen and the fact that my boss gets 18+ in mixed driving in his Silverado with the same engine (but much less knobby tires and lift). And anyway, it IS a truck, so… Overall, love the thing, and can’t wait to get it broken-in and start trying more difficult stuff with it. I haven’t owned a true (4 wheeled) offroader since I traded my 4WD Dakota in on the RAV in ’09, so, I’m taking things slow until I feel more confident in it, and more importantly, MY capabilities. So far so good, highly recommended!

Best looking mid-size inside & out by a huge margin IMO. The Ford Ranger Raptor is pretty sweet as well, but it’s taking an eternity to launch in North America. The new Tacoma is hideous & Nissan is already outdated from an interior layout perspective.

Why would you do a lift? Just get a bison if you want the largest tires possible. I'm sure you need them for functional reasons right. Good luck finding room for the spare.
@CBIOFFROADFAB4 ай бұрын
A good lift can go a long way in improving handling and off-road performance of a truck. The larger tire size can do the same thing as well. That being said a 33" tire the way it is works well for some people too. As for the spare it can be placed on a swing arm with an aftermarket rear bumper. This is a nice feature to hold a large spare tire as well as other gear like fuel, maxtrax recovery boards, as well as other off-road gear.

LHT Performance put the V8 and 6-speed automatic transmission from a 2020 Silverado into a 2020 Colorado. The blue V8 Colorado is used as a daily driver and shop truck. In Florida city traffic, the fuel economy isn't great, but on the highway gets 30 MPG.

@@aerynlovell4754He stated that the 5.3 actually got better mileage than the 4.6, the V8 didn’t have to work as hard
@aerynlovell47549 ай бұрын
@@Daywalker_27 The 6-cylinder in the Colorado was a 3.6L engine. In a car with a light body and limited cargo space a 4-cylinder makes sense. But mid-sized trucks are now over 4000 pounds and must also carry cargo and pull a trailer. To prevent knock in a turbocharged engine it sprays extra fuel into the combustion chamber to cool it down and then dumps the fuel into the exhaust. I prefer the older port injected 4.3L V6 because I had one in my last truck. But the naturally aspirated engine doesn't have the heat and high cylinder pressure of a turbocharged engine. That V8 Colorado can cruise all day pulling a heavy trailer and not overheat because it's not working at 100% capacity. In a truck, a 4-cylinder is always working at 100% when towing a trailer, and on a hot summer day, the turbo is forcing hot air into the engine.
