@@wertyuser798 I'm tired of people keep bringing that up. Otto was extremely stressed out at the time and afraid of dying. From his perspective, the White Whale randomly appeared, and his passenger (Subaru=) was going crazy, punched Otto, and talking about people who (from Otto's POV) doesn't exist. And then said passenger muttered out loud that the White Whale was probably chasing him specifically. Otto knows that at this rate, the two of them will certainly die. If the dude next to you is the reason the White Whale is chasing you, why wouldn't you toss him out? People do stupid things in time of extreme stress, and Subaru knows this because he also does stupid things when stressed. Otto was panicking and just did what he could to try and let himself survive. Its easy to watch from a third person perspective and say he was wrong, but a lot of people would do the same thing in his shoes, including me. Also, Otto was affected by the White Whale, specifically due to his Divine Protection which makes him able to communicate with living creatures, and went crazy. Once he got out of the White Whale's range and got back to his senses, he was found by the Witch Cult but was able to send his Ground Dragon to pick Subaru up before he was killed. If it wasn't for Otto, Emilia would have died by the explosion at the end of Season 1 and Otto saved Subaru like 3 times in Season 2 so far, even sacrificed his own life for Subaru. Rem tortured and slaughtered Subaru and had no excuses for that and I don't see anyone bringing that ever up.

You have to keep in mind that back then Otto was affected by the White Whale which made him go insane, especially due to his Divine Protection which makes him understand all kinds of creatures. Did you forget how the White Whale effected normal people? They went insane and scratched themselves, etc. Otto went mad, forgot about Rem like everyone else, so to him Subaru was just some crazy stranger who punched him for no reason and talks about a person that doesn't exist. The Anime didn't mention it but once Otto was out of the White Whale's range and got back to his senses, he wanted to go back for Subaru. The Witch Cult found Otto however and before he was slaughtered, he sent his Ground Dragon to pick Subaru up. Normal Otto, unaffected by the White Whale, would never leave Subaru to die. He also helped Subaru in saving Emilia at the end of S1 and saved Subaru three times in S2 so far, even sacrificed his own life for Subaru. Did you forgive Rem? Because if you did, it would make no sense that you don't forgive Otto who wasn't in his right mind. Rem tortured and slaughtered Subaru two times and she has no excuses for her actions.

kylie mitchel ok so, Spoilers: Basically, in the second cour of the season, Otto plays a bunch of tricks on Garfiel to help weaken him so Subaru can beat him. He gets beat up pretty bad, but his efforts pay off! In arc 5, he brings the pieces of roswaal’s gospel (it was burnt by ram in arc 4 to get rid of it, but Otto came along and picked up the pieces) to restore it so he can see what roswaal is planning so he can protect Subaru and the others. In arc 5, he also encounters gluttony no. 2 (there are 3 of the little rats) along with Felt, and he has an internal dialogue talking about how much he loves everyone (cutest thing ever), and he tries tricking gluttony (although it fails, thankfully Beatrice shows up and helps defend him). He gets his legs slashed (not amputated but stabbed) , but he still makes sure he doesn’t say Subaru’s name so gluttony can’t eat his memories or his ‘Name’. Basically, Otto best boy.

Ever since Otto escorted Subaru to Emilia I really liked his character, but he's really outdone himself this season. I don't think we've seen anyone besides Rem and maybe Reinheart accept Subaru's odd nature to this degree. It's totally fitting for Otto to be the one to remind Subaru of his true strength and best chance to win: the people he's saved along the way.

Another reason that makes otto so good is that in everytimeline this season, he has always refered subaru as a friend. There has been a sinlge timeline where Ram has been friendly with him but excluding the time where Otto striaght up sacrificed him(he didn't really know him that well back then so I don't really count that) he has always thought subaru as a friend.

I love that even after learning that he deserves to love himself, even after trying to believe others love him, Subaru still stumbles and falls at the first hurdle. Sure, on the one hand it looks pathetic, but it's also the real response. After all, knowing all that and actually 'believing it' are very different. The former is relatively easy, the latter incomparably hard, especially if you're alone. But if you're not alone, if your best friend is willing to sock you one and hear what you have to say... then yeah, it's possible. Quick reminder to guys and gals like me who feel like Subaru on occasion: sometimes something as simple as asking for a helping hand can be the difference between success and defeat. If someone takes it... well, then there's nothing that can stop you!
