Get faster 40 yard dash times and Improve your sprinting performance! A fast 40 yard dash time is one of THE benchmarks in football. It can give a player an edge in tryouts and evaluations, and it can also be a factor in determining how much playing time they get and what their role on the team will be.
It's especially important for positions that require a lot of speed and quickness, like wide receivers, running backs, and defensive backs. But even players who need to tackle or cover kickoffs and punts can benefit from having a fast 40 yard dash time.
But it's not just about doing 3 point starts - it's about doing them correctly.
In this lesson Coach Ken Harnden - who has coached some of the fastest NFL players including Mecole Hardman (4.33) and Jalen Ramsey (4.41s) - breaks down the 3 point start technique step by step and points out common mistakes that may be slowing you down. By following his guidance you'll be well on your way to shaving seconds off your 40 yard dash times and becoming a faster, more efficient sprinter.
3 point starts are a valuable tool for 100/200m sprinters as well. They are a crucial component of the sprint training program at Auburn because they require less effort than block starts, allowing you to get more reps and still achieve many of the same benefits.

I have a question. At the start, which leg is pushing the most? I read some studies saying that most of the power comes from the rear leg when getting out of the blocks. Thanks
@OutperformOfficial
@OutperformOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
Almost all of the power comes from the front leg. If you push with the back leg you will be much slower out of the blocks and the first step won't be nearly as quick as it should be.

Attention to minute 3:21. The strongest foot of a soccer player is considered to be the one with which they kick most powerfully. This foot or leg may or may not be the strongest for executing a horizontal, vertical jump, or for starting blocks in athletics. It's interesting to note that in the sports context, the strongest foot for kicking the ball in soccer isn't always the same as the one most effective for other athletic activities such as jumping or starting blocks in track and field. This is due to the specific nature of the movements and skills required in each sport. In soccer, the dominant foot for kicking the ball is usually considered the player's strongest foot because it's with this foot that they have the most accuracy and power for passes and shots on goal. However, in other activities like jumping or sprinting, other factors such as muscular explosiveness and coordination may influence which leg is more efficient. For example, a soccer player may have a dominant left foot for kicking the ball, but their right leg may be stronger and more explosive for jumping or running. This is because different types of training and skills are emphasized in each sport, leading to specific specialization in certain physical capabilities. Therefore, it's important for athletes to understand the nuances of their own bodies and adapt their training accordingly to the specific demands of their sport.

When you start with one foot behind your center of mass you will produce much more horizontal force because your leg above the knee is moving much faster than horizontally than your leg below the knee which is use to produce vertical force

Absolutely! 3 points starts are incredibly useful even if you have access to blocks as you can get a lot more reps in while working on the same sprinting mechanics.

@porthmeor1
@porthmeor1 3 жыл бұрын
First off train to be below 12.5...set achievable targets. Your start is where you can make most difference. I assume you are using blocks if not then that 12.5 is going to be coming pretty quickly once you do! At maximum velocity keep the knees up and run tall, do not lean forward - you need the foot to come down directly under the body and not behind.

I’m built like Usain Bolt…meaning right leg being the back leg. So…what’s the difference between somebody like me and Bolt and somebody like u? I have noticed u have to make an adjustment at the beginning of the race using the 3 step technique to be equal to me or Usain. I keep moving my legs right-left since the start of the race, u tell me what u do and who has an advantage if so.
@OutperformOfficial
@OutperformOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
Every sprinter is different and needs to make unique adjustments depending on their body type. Tall sprinters like Usain Bolt aren't as quick out of the blocks when compared to shorter ones like Coleman but they make up for it later in the race during the max velocity phase where their stride length is a huge advantage.

That kicking soccer leg is not really a good idea when you are actuall soccer player. Most soccer players who kick with their right has the left stronger to push off from. Its becaus all the stability work that non kicking leg is doing and its probably also soccer players jumping leg because lot of times you will be jumping from the left to kick the ball with your right so you will adapt your jumping to that. So im assuming you want your stronger jumping leg in front right?....anyways thanks for advice this channel is really helpful. Im soccer player but iam really into sprinting, its so much fun. I am trying to get best 40 y and 100m times but my starts are the worst part.
