I'm so mad they took this out of the full release, I love seeing the companions interact with eachother, and I think this nightmare (trance?) really drives home his fear of Cazador.

I KNOW RIGHT??? I loved his nightmares about Cazador, it shows so much of his vulnerability and fears. I was looking forward to it and they took it out. 😭😭😭

The script for his character and voice acting is absolutely brilliant. He basically wants to become a lesser Cazador or to gain his ability to control the minds while willing to re-experience over and over again the events that took place and torture that he endured while under his spell. I wonder what his actual motivation is behind all of this and why he is so adamant about it.

I agree, he has such good lines and Neil Newbon did an amazing job voice acting! I'm guessing ultimately he'd probably want to be even better than Cazador! It's hard to know what's going on in the mind of someone who's been abused for so long- it seems like he really wants to feel like he's the one in control now, it's survival of the fittest and everyone else be damned. I hope (as it's an RPG after all) that we can choose to either try to make him see there's other options or nurture his lust for power and see how that goes! It'll be interesting for sure!

@@03irisiris10 I do have to agree with Neil Newborn doing an amazing job. He makes even the cringiest lines sound good :). As for his plans, I do believe we will see more on that, later in the game but Astarion on the one hand did not strike me as a controlling type or one that aims that. For me the biggest puzzle regarding him is him dreaming of Cazador in the first place. Because all characters depict dreams of the ones they desire including the MC so.....Love-hate relationship? This gives me "killing stalking " hard vibes...hahah

First of all, I LOVED Neil Newbon s performance in Detroit :become human as well butt Astarion just is Another level! Second, Killing Stalking is such a great Manga! I wonder if there would be an animated movie for that.

@@LuB8857 Oh my god!!! thank god, I'm not the only one who thought about Killing stalking. As for a movie based on it, I would personally love it, however, if it's true to the manga, it's pretty hardcore, to say the least. There is a lot of stuff that is not easy to take in. For me personally as well, when he spoke about Cazador augmenting him with his poems it made me think of Togianu no chi's Arbitro... yikes!

@@Ennasalin my theory about him dreaming of Cazador is that (maybe) the dreams are supposed to arouse the strongest emotion that a person can feel in order that they can't fight it. For everyone else it's lust, the strongest instinct that we all have, but for Astarion it's this immense fear of his master, who was abusing him for such a long time... It probably sounds a bit lame but I couldn't think of anything else and also I highly doubt that Astarion has some kind of a "love-hate" relationship with Cazador. Though sometimes victims of abuse tend to get attracted to their abusers in a weird twist of psycology (that's what I've read, anyway), I don't think it's the case here

This conversation is even funnier if you just take everyone's equipment off before, then you're telling him to take his top off and he refusing whilst standing there shirtless haha And yup, people who have tried to translate the Infernal on his back and some hints from Descent into Avernus basically confirm Cazador was probably carving more than a poem.. :o

For some reason the "carving into flesh" reminds me an elf of another franchise who was once a slave and used for magical expetiments. (Fenris from Dragon Age 2)

I've been trying for so long to trigger this scene!! How many dreams did you have before it? I thought it was after the 2nd one, but Shadowheart is the only one who'll talk to me after that one. Dx

At the moment in patch 3 at least, shadowheart is the biggest obstacle to this cutscene. The game prioritises a lot of her dialogue. I recommend trying out not recruiting her in the beginning because that leads to other interesting cutscenes later when she shows up uninvited! You can also kill her the night before to see this conversation in the morning, then reload. As long as she is in camp I don't think this convo will trigger so you have to get rid of her. hope this helps!

@@RandomBlondeChick1 I know that Lae'zel will run off and be where the gith are if you don't help her get out the trap. Wyll just keeps hanging out with the tieflings and when you get to a certain point you can't ask him to join you anymore, he leaves with the tieflings. In patch 3 at least Gale and Astarion just stay where you met them. I think it would be really interesting if all of the companions would go and do their own thing and have different cutscenes if you don't recruit them! Any excuse to play again!

It happens when you wake up after the second tadpole dream. The key is for Shadowheart to not be recruited at all or be dead, because at the moment her dialogue overrides this cutscene every time, which is a bit of a shame in my opinion!

how did you get the clothing and hairstyles?

The clothing is from the Add All Items mod that adds item from the data files that aren't available in game yet, the hair is from a mod called Hair Edits

It's padded leather armour +2, it exists within the data files but I accessed it using a mod called Add All Items!

It is modded! It's called Hair Edits and it's the harpy hair apparently. This actually happened by accident, the character started with two buns but the mod replaced that hair haha

Although would all the companions also jump in to comment in the middle of the night ? I guess also there could be more nightmares coming- one of those might wake us up in the night, hmm

@@jljljl1820 You make a good point. I like the night atmosphere as well, but if the other NPCs are there it might seem weird since not all of them had nightmares.

@@03irisiris10 the other companions dream dialogues could take place the next morning. that would make it feel like theres more talking too :D the best parts are the conversations anyway imo :D
