Takeoffs and landings in a 1940 Piper J3 Cub

Nice. Late 50s as a kid I hung around at a Georgia air field..grass. I fueled up J3s, Aronicas, Luscombs and manually started most of them.. "Contact!" then pulled that wooden prop for a start up. There was even a Stearman parked behind a hanger. When the owner discovered I was eating his beef burgers reserved for customers I was dismissed...ending my flying career. Did one last ride home on my bicycle.

Most non-flyers just freak out at the thought that your in an 82 year old airplane! BUT, it's very likely your Cub has been completely Rebuilt 4, 5, or 6 times since then! My flight training days date back to the 1960's. One of my first Trainers was a 1947 Taylor-craft. In the nearly two decades since it left the factory, it had been recently completely Rebuilt, for the second time! Smelled like a brand new plane too!
