Taking a proper Look at the Kone modded Schindlers' of the Observatory Shopping Centre

Funnily enough it probably has better pre-doors than it did as a Schindler, though Miconic is much better at the levelling before its pre-door. Also, those QKS9 doors are a delight to hear, just like the late David Jones M-Series.

Really? I'm surprised that the Schindler's didn't pre door more than these. They are very good at pre dooring yes, just not quite as good as they were before the mod. I specifically remember that these lifts had the old Schindler Fujitec voice before the mod. I always remember they used to say "ground floor" then immediately after, "doors opening". I love the sound of the doors, they're so nice to listen to! "Clunk clunk" and "Clank Clank... Clank... Clunk Clunk". Especially the left lift, the doors sound much better compared to the right lift, probably because it's used more.

These lifts have been Modernized again by KONE. They have now been upgraded to 4th generation KONE Ecodiscs.

Good question! I don't know they did that. They should have put the button on top of the original panel. The only reason may be because they had to keep the old call button for the unmodernised and working lift whilst they modernised the other lift. Then when that lift finished was finished being modernised they had to test it, and put a new call button in. Just a theory.

@@otiskone2548 a slap on mod is when the buttons are changed but the logic is not changed. As the logic is changed on these it is more than a slap on mod (albeit not much more)

I'll admit this, but as much as I like Kone, I don't like that mod. KSS fixtures in a Schindler seems wrong to me, same with KSS in an Otis 2000. Has Kone replaced the logic or is it still the original Schindler logic?

It does seem wrong. My main complaint is not that they replaced the logic, but that they installed 2 sets of buttons on each landing. They are constantly breaking, meaning that when one button set breaks, they don't bother getting them replaced unless the other set are breaking. I would much rather they kept the original fixtures in place along with the original logic, however, I'm glad they chose Kone to mod them as a generic mod that takes 5 seconds to level will be too much for these lifts. They were struggling to keep up before the pandemic, even with me constantly in one of the lifts spamming door close lol!

@@MichalM Oh dear! These lifts sound quite unreliable then... I think Kone should have done a full replacement rather than a mod, to be honest.

@@lovelifts1736 Well the lifts themselves are fine, but the buttons are constantly breaking. Other than the left lift being randomly out of action for 3 months, they have been fairly reliable to be honest.

Good video! However, that modernisation is terrible. It is outragous for Kone to mod a lift like this. It feels like a cheep generic slap on mod the way they did that.
