I think this is the way business should be done - the fabood (sp) way, almost always. When the goal of any business is to grow more and more, and take over the market, this is bad for everyone. It is especially bad for animals. Society is healthiest when we have a bunch of small, well run businesses that meet up with other small businesses and share ideas. If a village has 5 small cheese shops by different families, the variety is astounding, and this is what makes life interesting.

at 24:26 they're called rafters in English. A raft is a flat, open boat. I think it is endearing how you care so much for all of your animals. In English the plural of sheep is just sheep (not Sheeps); and in the word lamb, the b is silent - so it's pronounced lam.

Thanks for the beautiful video. Vocational studies like making artisan cheese are very rare in the US. There was an attempt of industry to create a mono culture where everyone from everywhere is exactly the same. Americans are rejecting that choosing instead to return to independent craft. Families happily raise and grow foods that are unique and regional. That way we all look forward to visiting and buying from each other. I can see that kind of independence in you creating your own industry even if it is small. Maybe you will create a website to purchase and ship the cheeses you make to the US. 🧀📬! That would be lovely.

Its such a lovely development and i believe that Sweden also are heading there, slowly but step by step. It would be so nice to have such a website, but I'm not sure about the rules that would apply selling to the US, with the unpasteurised milk and all, i will check into it! @@Talasbuan Where I live in the Northwest part of the US, just south of British Columbia Canada, we have a difficult time purchasing raw unpasteurized milk and the local small farmers have been plagued by inspectors and government officials when they want to sell that. The only way around it is for a couple or 3 people to purchase a cow or shares in a cow and keep it at the farmer's farm. Then we can go out and milk and bring our milk home because we "own" the cow. Still not an easy task.

@@leal536 oh, interesting. It is the first time I've heard about how it is with raw milk in Canada. Here we have some weird rule that the farmer can sell 70 liters (just a made up number) per week directly from the farm, but he/she has to inform you written on paper that it is dangerous and that the buyer has to cook the milk when they come home. Ridiculous. If you were asking for an English translations, two years later: A) a tanned animal skin with fur/wool/hair still on that is tanned used to be called "pelt" (or "hide", but that may imply just the leather) B) a business that is huge (& successful), perhaps either "commercial" or "capitalistic" might be a good one translation Whether you use words I am used to or not, I appreciate you using English so very much! I also enjoy learning terms/words in your own two languages. More than that, the descriptions you both give, in words and pictures bridge any vocabulary gaps. Throughout it all, you communicate in an/a accessible, wholesome, amenable style.

I know it’s just a quick look in but your coup it is super I used to love taking that thick layer from my hens and adding it to other organic stuff to make very rich soil for growing veg and flowers it can be smelly work but the compost after is so useful

You should be holding your chicken poo and rabbit poo over for a year in a compost. Using it without holding it over may be to "hot" for your plant seeds and seedlings. Hot meaning to potent.

you did really well for not being on a skateboard for 7 years. Tova that is a great that you are learning how to make cheese. I have tried a few times because people tell me how easy it is to make. I'm sorry but they lie. It definitely is an art. I would love to learn more about it but for now I will just enjoy the cheese I buy in the store. I love spring but I don't like all the mud either as well as all the melting animal poop.

Thank you for sharing your journey. I noticed in your chicken coop your are using wood shavings, may i suggest that you change your litter to sand, it's much easier to clean with just a litter scoop and it keeps the coop dryer.

Another good video Thanks! for sharing. Goat or animal "hide" has hair still on it. your ditch along in front of the chicken coupe it is always better to have water shed to the side, making a ditch down the middle and filling it with rocks and boulders that is called a "French drain" but the problem with that type of drain it relies on the buried voids to work and over time the voids fill up under the ground especially with all the fines that are in the ground around the chicken coupe a drain off to the side will work and dry the ground up faster with the sun, also wood ashes will dry the ground up and harden it along the pathway, it may make some mess for a spring but will dry in the summer.

about 6:13 min. in re. your mud river - I'm thinking if you put some weight in your wheel barrow and push it down your path to make an indent in the soft-wet-ground from the wheel. Then drill a bunch of holes around the top and sides (not the bottom) of a pvc pipe and lay the pipe in the indent you made. The water will seep into the pipe from the ground and run down the hill in the pipe resulting in a less muddy path.

Spring chicken coop cleaning is the worst...but, the best when it is all done! Edmund is adorable! That is amazing - cheesemaker! Wisconsin, where I live, is full of cheese factories and artisian cheesemaking. I'm watching in order...so, I can't wait to see if you make some of your own cheese...even if you don't ....you did learn a skill and trade .... you can't go wrong with that. Just in case....

Beautiful goat skins. I have always had Nubian milk goats and used to tan deerskins after hunting season. I always had trouble keeping them out of the view (or scent) of predators.

Anytime you can take the time to learn a new skill it will usually be time well spent. Even some subjects that you don't think will be relevant to you at the time, may turn out to be very important to you in the future. I am enjoying watching your journey. I think your command of the English language is very good, and it seems you both are becoming more comfortable with it. When you struggle with a certain word it's okay I'm sure some of the comments here will help you. I believe when you were referring to the animal skins the word you were looking for is "hides".

At 17:58 wouldn't the butter do better on marble or metal (cold) than wood. I've seen wooden paddles used instead of warm hands. The butter is such a beautiful color - I've never seen butter so golden, even grass fed, organic, from the farms in Maine. I believe that in the children's book "Farmer Boy' the Author, Laura Ingalls Wilder - recounts that her mother-in-law would grate carrot and squeeze out some juice to blend with her butter for the color and for the nutrition of the carotene. She also pressed it into pound-size wooden forms with the top being pressed with a beautifully carved design. I'm surprised they use plastic, hopefully PCB free. At 20:24 min. in what's the dark power being sprinkled over the small different shaped cheese? At 20:56 the word you're looking for 'big' business - would be 'ambitious'.
