I love how he is outside much of the time getting plenty of good air and playing with simple toys, not forgetting him being such a wonderful little helper. Please continue to share life's adventures. Lots of love from England.

In my Sydney suburb, sewerage pipes put 70 years ago were made of terracotta. Unfortunately this causes lots of problems down the track with root infiltration, misalignment, flaking which causes things to get trapped in them. The main remedial method at the moment is relining the pipes…. with plastic. It is very costly, but not as costly as digging them all up. Whilst they are friendlier to our health and the environment, they definitely have a lot of downsides, so don’t be hard on yourselves.

Mathias, you are so correct about raising your own food/meat & how the quality is so much better. My husband & I live in Central NY, USA & we raise (or hunt) all of our own meat; hogs, chickens, turkeys, (deer)....& my inlaws raise black angus beef. They just had our first jersey cow bred & so we are looking towards fresh milk & butter in about 3 weeks. Slowly, we have moved along the path of food independence. I now preserve most of our vegetables & fruit for a year, make our own maple syrup & apple cider, grow wheat & make our own flour, grow dry corn & make our own cornmeal. Family & friends can not get over the quality of our food & how well we eat. Dairy is the only thing we have been lacking. The only downside is that we eat so 'clean' that we have gut issues if we eat other places & now can't stomach most restaurant food or grocery store food. Plus there is a huge spiritual/mental component; we KNOW that our animals have a good life, die a 'good' death, and we give thanks for all that they provide us. It a true feeling of freedom and gratitude ❤

Yes, someone has likely already said, but "sink, kitchen sink". Love to hear the Swedish term, too! So wonderful to get to see your life, and learn! By the way, an outdoor kitchen for most of us in the US, is a true luxury! Of course, our indoor kitchens are a dream! But to have a place outdoors set up like yours, to handle such matters in the fresh air, weather permitting is also a DREAM!

Yes, butchering sheep is not so hard (technically) for me anymore. That feels nice. I watched a few videos right after butchering the one in the video and learned a few new tricks that I am excited to try out next time. In the past, in my country, I still remember (because I am old lol) that those tubes were made of clay, ceramics were not just used to make clay plates or clay pans, of course, just like plates and pans, they could break but that still happens with the plastic ones. We are not to blame but those who changed the production of the materials we now have to use.

Your 2 points on skinning & preparing the sheep gor butchering are very insightful.

It is indeed effective to use the wool as insulation. The downside is you have to work quite a bit to wash it. Otherwise you and all your things will smell strong of sheep forever. How do I know? Well...

Wow!! Maybe next year you can consider adding a natural heat for the cellar. The temperature of the ground about 8 or more feet down stays about 52 degrees F all year around. You can install 6 inch plastic line down that deep and circulate air into and out of the cellar. Search "Greenhouse in the Snow" about an old man in Nebraska of the United States. He has never had to heat that greenhouse and yet can grow oranges and lemons. It gets cold in Nebraska. Even if it added only 10 degrees then it might make your cellar perfect on temperature.

I have loved the copper pipes, the water tastes so good, in houses we have rented over the years. But now I am back in my childhood home, with the sister who had the reaction, even if I could afford to go back to copper I cannot.

Agree completely, that thanking the animal and having the right attitude and not taking more than is needed from the resources, plants and animals, makes all the difference 🙏🏼 And also butchering in a respectful way, trying to avoid suffering as much as it's at all possible, and also after a life for the animal which is a good life and suits them. Everything else I find is not acceptable.

Rather eat an animal that was truly cared for, than one that was tortured its whole way to slaughter & beyond. The animals that I raise, & LOVE, only have one bad day of their life. It is called the circle of life & we are all part of it. Don't think you are outside of it....we all participate in one way or another. I would much rather give animals love, attention, care, and RESPECT in their death. I feel no shame, discomfort, etc..eating an animal that I watched from birth. There is a moment of sadness when their life ends, & I think any ethical farmer feels this each time. If we didn't we would turn into inhumane monsters. But I actually pray a prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord for the life the animal lived & the live giving food they are providing. Every time we have to kill an animal, I pray over the animal & thank it for its life. So don't think that we are all cutting our animals into 'bits' as you say with no heart at all. The Lord gave us animals as a part of our diet & I don't feel bad about the way I live.

I am a meat eater but I was not prepared for the slaughter scene or the fact that your boy was there to watch. Have to think on this one. Once a long time ago we raised two batches of chickens over the summer. The first batch I dispatched myself and the end result was that I couldn't eat the meat for weeks. The next time we loaded them all in the pickup and took them to a professional. I guess every situation is different and every person is different. I will let the rest of the video run with the sound off so it doesn't affect the YT stats.

Ja, jag kände att jag ville visa hur jag styckar får. Har testat lite olika, men kommit fram till ett sätt nu som jag gillar. Det får bli vid nästa slakt
