Thanks for the great advice. No, montages or monologues. Have the camera on me, and my eyes and emotion got it. I'm currently working on research for putting together professional marketable reel. Should I just stick with drama and comedy scenes or can I do horror and action too?

Hi Wendy! I have a question, I had this acting teacher who told me that I can email my showreel and resume to casting directors aswell as producers. I have never really heard of an actor emailing producers so I would love your thoughts on this. Ps. Love your videos, they are really helpful!🫶🏼

Don't do it. Not unless they ask for you to specifically send them your reels or info via email directly. Don't. Let your agent or manager handle that. Now, if the producer or casting director is more on the student film or Microbudget production side of things, then you may be able to send them your reels and stuff via email. But if they're more reputable in the industry, then that's a hard no.

It depends on the casting director and it depends on your relationship with them. Some casting directors will tell you they are fine with you sending a demo reel. Others will say no. If you are taking a class with a CD ask them if you can email it. If you are following a CD on IG ask them in the comments. If anyone says yes, then be sure to keep the email VERY SHORT. And NEVER send a show reel to a CD if the acting isn't GREAT. So be sure you are in constantly in acting classes, and you are becoming a solid actor. Get very well trained. If you are meeting producers at Film Festivals and in Facebook groups they may ask for your Show Reel, go ahead and send it. Good luck!

Hi Wendy! I have a quick question about using old footage in a demo reel. I'm an actress returning to the industry after being away from the industry for over 11 years. I did have speaking parts in major cable TV shows and studio films, but the footage is over 11 years old, and I no longer look the same. However, the footage is beautifully filmed, and it shows off my acting skills really well. So should I still be keeping this footage in my demo reel even though it is 11 years old, but at the same time it is from major cable network shows and studio films?
