I think even Keith Richards said that he couldn't keep up with these country stars' lifestyles. Country tough.

3AM Marty Stuart gets a knock at his hotel room door, he can hear that it is Jerry Lee. Jerry Lee is standing there naked, except for boots, covered in chocolate icing. "Sorry to bother you Marty, I need to borrow your fiddle, please."

My now-deceased aunt Tammy was the daughter of Roy Acuff. Thank you so much for sharing these videos, country ass people need some recognition

Roy Acuff is just as influential as J.L.L. and, in my opinion, probably more deserving of being remembered for his original work. They both became old timers and kept going to their end, and both were originals, but I would bet Acuff would be remembered as more inspiring to more musicians. He just doesn't have a debauched reputation that makes for more sensational stories. But i like and remember them both!

My mom sang in the Hank Snow band and toured w/ Jerry. She met Elvis as well. She told me some crazy AF stuff about the 50s!

If you need to seen JLL's birthday party, that was streamed a couple years ago. Thank you, KZbin for streaming it live. 2 men live forever in my heart. JLL & Jackie Wilson. Heart , soul of R&R and R&B. They made my life a better place.

These are pretty cool stories that I heard about as a kid because these were my dads rock stars, Jerry Lee, Elvis and especially Johnny and Merle. He also lived it some, had a stake in a club that hosted a lot of country music stars back in the 70's and part time bouncer. In those days, he was the real life version of Dalton in Roadhouse except he was not a mystery, everyone knew my dad if from nothing more than reputation. He never lost because he grew up dog eat dog in the coal camps and backwoods hills and hollers. More than anything I remember him meeting his idols, hero's of music and times where he lost all respect for them because of who they actually turned out to be. He gave everyone a chance to be nice and get along, but only one. He thought the same about Jerry Lee as teen girls did about the Beatles, who he said were..... well, can't say those words today, but you know.

America used to be very different... especially when he was coming up and where he came up. Watch a movie called Walking Tall... not the one with The Rock, watch the one with Joe Don Baker -- that's how it was.
