one thing I loved about their relationship in the game was that it was an acting game between Laura and Taliesin where each would throw a romantic scene at the other and they would have to return it. was kind of a game of one ups man ship..

Laura tweeted that her parents told her that they enjoyed the three episodes and she felt compelled to apologize for the sex. In the kickoff party it was mentioned that the sessions where she and Tallisen had to make the sounds was a real hoot. Liam admitted he had a video, but it won't get released.

the Launch party Laura and Taliesin did talk about the awkward part about the sex scene was they where in a group recoding so the rest of the cast was their watching them make sex noises into their mics.

I saw a few people pointing out that the person who betrayed them was a red dragonborn who uses magic and had a thing for Allura. Similar to another red dragonborn who uses magic and had a thing for Allura, from back in the campaign. I don't know if that's intentional, but it's an interesting coincidence.

It's even more meta when you understand the inspiration for Allura and Kima. Much of the dialogue leading up to the betrayal is deeply layered for those in the know. It's intentional, alright.

The campaign largely skipped over the sex parts out of respect to the participants, but the Naked Man move is accurate. IIRC the timeline of events was shuffled up a bit, even moreso when they split the party

It was episode 78 that the "Power Play" happened. I looked it up because I wasn't sure of the timing with the OTHER incident where Laura surprised the table, that I hope is still to come... which was episode 81 of the campaign.

Yeah, this entire episode was about relationships and the complications that can manifest, especially within a found family and how others can be scorned and grow bitter and resentful. And in Dohla's case, vengeful. Also, Keyleth's a half-elf. Has been since day one. She just gains her extended longevity once she completes her Aramenté. I'm personally hoping that during their literal going through hell, Vax and Kiki will find each other again, as they're both stuck in their own way right now.

2:00 So I looked up the Scrying spell. In 3rd edition, if the target is on another plane it's +5 to the target's Will save (I think it's implied that a willing target can forgo the saving throw). In 5th edition straight up doesn't work across planes.

Season 1 and season 2 were made back to back. Season 3 had a break before starting production which I think helped assess their approach to development. Also the dragons production completely changed at the start of season 2. Given that season 1 and 2 were done back to back its reasonable to assume season 3 benefitted from the learning process that was season 2

Just to give some perspective on how long keyleth will live. She's around 25 now, and when she gains her Timeless body trait her aging slows down. As a half elf her lifespan is approximately 180 years, multiplied by 10 because of slowed aging she will live (in theory) until about 1800 which is around 839 years longer than the time since the start of the Calamity and the current time (811 PD).

I think it turned out closer to the original steam that maybe you think. A red mage dragonborn with feelings for allura and who hates Kima because of that, who was toxic to the group and died at Deconia. Honestly I think they nailed Tiberius Stormwind.

in the original campaign, the plate was in the Plane Of Fire, not Hell, and by this point they had already killed Thordak, Raishan AND Ripley, and were dealing with Vecna. they go to Hell to kill Hotis, who they've been tracking since the Briarwood arc after he tried to kill Vax. at that point, Scanlan was on leave and Tary had joined, so the incident of the picture cards with Doty had already happened, which means, Vex and Percy had already porked and were living together (which happens after Vex opens up to him, after being traumatized by Saundor, and after Percy gets all kinds of messed up in the fight against Ripley, so Vex starts caring about Percy) IN hell, they find Ipkesh who points them to the dungeon where Hotis is, which is guarded by Utugash. Ipkesh binds them to contract to kill Utugash, which he later collects down the line by turning Vex's kid into a tiefling. in that dungeon they find Tova the werebear who is looking for her friends, and the incident happens of Keyleth being struck while unconscious, and Doty being destroyed. when they leave Hell, Tova remains and that's the last we see of her. to get the plate from the plane of fire, they meet Senokir, a Genasi merchant, who points them in the direction of the giant that owns it in exchange for them killing the monster who killed his wife, recover her ashes, and take them to Vasselheim. when VM finds the giant, they hustle the plate from him in a game of cards that Pike aces on the first go. when they get back to the material plane, Keyleth completes her Aramente and gains the plane-shift spell which is what they needed to pull them out of Hell. since no Hotis in S1, no tracking of him to Hell, no killing him, no Keyleth being struck (because, no defense by Tary, because, no Tary), and no need for Tova. switch Tova for Dolah in Draconia (which they do visit in the live stream further down the line, and find the statue to Tiberius), subplot with Ally and Kima, so someone from the main cast has to be left around to witness that (otherwise, "it didn't happen"), so they leave Vex and Percy, so, no contract with Ipkesh (which Tary assists in signing), and no tiefling child down the line. here, it's Kima who goes missing, so Ally may go look for her on her own, leaving Vex and Percy to work things out on their own. the contract is still in flux, so if Keyleth is still disabled at the end, they might still sign the contract with Ipkesh if he's around, or a new NPC, to get out, potentially helping Vax down the line to get out of the contract with the Raven Queen, potentially making HIM have the tiefling kid with Keyleth. if you watched What If, you know how this can go.

So The whole Draconia part is very diferent in the show, because in the campaing it was related to a problematic ex player, i wont go into details theres docens of videos about him out there, so Dhola is a similar character that represent the original. they even present an at the time toxic situation of that PC character in the fact that the player in the campaing was hitting on Allura, and them Matt stablish that she has a deeper relationship with Kima so this player get pretty buthurt about it like was denied a relationshi, so you can see even if in the show the details are diffent they kind of make it work for the drama in the show

Do you want to dive into another Nerdy franchise one Henry Cavil himself plays, It's called Warhammer 40,000. It is a Grimm Dark Sci-Fi franchise with nearly 40 years of Lore that started as a Tabletop Miniature Game (and still primarily is). While there are no major TV shows (Yet), there are a load of Cinematic and Lore Videos. If you dive in, I would start with Brickys' Every 40k faction explained in parts 1 and 2. I really think you would like the universe.

I love how they utilized the Orion stuff in a recognizable but distinct way, using the best and worst aspects of the public-facing problems to thematically tie the romantic stuff in this episode all together. Perfectly handled.

It's not. Dohla was a preexisting character and CR has never engaged with drama in such a petty or public way, not even subtly. It'd be truly bizarre and mean-spirited to randomly dredge that up in this way a decade later for no reason.

Dohla’s expansion in relevance, as a Dragonborn who was jealous of the accolades of others and who had a perceived (in-universe) jealousy about the romance between Allura and Kima? That’s a coincidence? Come on, now. They took some of the troublesome aspects of what Orion did at the table and repurposed it to serve the show’s story, and that’s good. There’s nothing mean spirited or bizarre about pointing that out, and they’re not engaging in drama by writing that newly into the story to preserve the elements of that which serve the characters and the story. It’s an excellent thematic bow for this episode, and they moved past it all artfully with no real insult presented to Orion or his fans. I genuinely don’t see any issue at all - which is why I said it’s perfectly handled. I imagine threading that needle so well was incredibly difficult.

It's a massive reach and out of step with what CR themselves do. They already gave Tiberius an incredibly respectful and fond farewell in the actual campaign, the idea they'd turn him into a strawman to grizzly murder onscreen a decade later is just silly.

Dohla Lorian was a character in the lore of the original campaign, being one of the 6 people in the group Kima and Allura were in, and one of the three who perished when sealing Thordak away originally. Her surviving to fill Tiberius's role for this leg of the story makes sense, but the extra added details, like the relationship jealousy, are likely potentially inspired by him, if only subconsciously.
