Always a fine band, but the last three albums is where the real magic lies!
@theworldaccordingto45559 ай бұрын
@@Owlstretchingtime78 I agree, those last albums were indeed magical, especially Laughing Stock and Spirit of Eden (they were among the very first post-rock albums, before post-rock was even a thing). The .O.rang ('O'rang) albums (Lee Harris and Paul Webb from Talk Talk) are really good experimental/post-rock albums and included some other famous names on those albums. Mark Hollis solo album also had that great feel of the last TT albums.
@Owlstretchingtime789 ай бұрын
@theworldaccordingto4555 Absolutely right! I also have the two O'rang albums, of which the first one is a percussive masterpiece. With Hollis's debut, there was almost more silence than sound, which was Mark's way of saying 'here's my last piece of work, i'm done'. When a guy places so much importance in stripping away, instead of adding on and loves the sound of wind and slow running water, we knew he'd given his all. I still miss him nonetheless!

I think it was because other than It's My Life they didn't have major pop hits early on, and then the last three albums were just too ahead of their time. Pretty much every musician born around that time cites them as a major influence at this point.

A little anecdote... bought an old DUAL receiver for 50 Euros a couple of years ago, hooked a pair of old Heco Ultra Slim B 170 which i also got for 50 bucks and my audiophile friend could not believe his ears when we listened to Hollis´"Colour of Spring" and "Watershed".... beautifully produced and reproduced.... i love his music. and my friend was shocked by the reproduction of his voice by this ultra budget vintage gear...
