I can't speak to the front legs, but her hind legs are, in fact, shorter. She is one of those bad breeds of German Shepherd. She is a good dog, no doubt, but the particular breed is bad. If a German Shepherd squats in the rear, you got your dog from a shitty breeder, breeding shitty dogs.

Labradors and Rottweilers are the same. Your floor, clothes, furniture are never not covered in dog hair. Their hair is not that long, but it is wire-y and coarse and gets stuck in the fibers of EVERYTHING. And our lab was brown. So dark hair from both literally everywhere at all times. When I went away to college, it was the first time in well over a decade that I was not picking dog hair off myself and my bed, daily. But I miss them both every day, and I would gladly take the hair times 10 if it meant I could have them back.

We had a pretty big yard and I loved running around and playing with him and our other German Shepherds. While they were all pretty big, they were gentle giants and were always careful to not knock me over or anything. We bathed our dogs outdoors so I got the added benefit of playing with water helping to give them baths. That was quite a while ago and they've all crossed the rainbow bridge at one point or another. I hope they've all reunited and I can meet them all again one day. Meanwhile, I've got my corgi - mix Bailey and my Maine Coon Shadow to keep me company.

It was fascinating, and I grew to really like that dog! His name is Rider. He whined once off anesthetics all the way until he was picked up, and left me with many places to pick up his fur. Funny side story, my dad did a splenectomy on him and once he took out the spleen, the spleen moved a bit and started leaking blood all over the floor. I must say I was never fond of GSD's and would never personally get one myself. But I groom two boys, a long haired one and a short haired one and I must say they are both my favorite customers. But the difference in the long haired ones, like Tikka, is just a majestic transformation 😍😍😍

I've been told by multiple people that GSDs are the second biggest victim of crappy puppy-mill breeding behind the lab. The old (expensive) service dog lines are intact, but the pet lines are totally thrashed and non-selective, which has washed out most of the classically desirable temperament - the sole (unintentional) benefit was breeding out the hideously-artificial back conformation of the purebred show dogs.

she honestly behaved pretty decently for a shepherd; it is impossible to cut my gsd's nails unless 2 people are holding on to her and even then she screams her head off. we both are traumatized by her nail trim sessions (she also doesn't let you brush any part of her body that isn't her back & sometimes maybe her chest)
@maryelmore478

This is my shepherd mix to a T. I got the equigroomer and that has helped a lot with the brushing. As for nail trims now that my girl is 15 and deaf I sneak up on her when she's sleeping and can sometimes snip off one or two before she realizes. That look of betrayal when she realizes what I have done 😳

Dont trim her nails then. Why would a dog need its nails to be trimmed?
@elizabethhouser3357
@elizabethhouser3357 Жыл бұрын
@@GodisMyNo1 it is very uncomfortable for the dog to walk on long nails. They can’t get as much grip on smooth floors when they have long nails. ‘Grinding them down on the pavement’ doesn’t work and is outdated. Unless you’re walking them on pavement three miles a day.

I’m new at being a shepherd owner, a little more than a year now. He’s very needy and sheds sooo much but he’s very much worth it! I can’t believe how much personality a dog can have, this one way more than any previous dog I’ve had, all small terrier types

GSD is a working breed (or used to be, anyway) - they want to feel useful and active, and they want lots of exercise. Give them that and they'll be the best dog ever.

I always have a soft spot for German shepherds. Having one has kind of made me want to have a smart dog. They just have so much personality and my boy was such a big baby. Just got a new dog a few days ago. He’s an Aussie, I feel like my German shepherd prepared me for anything. My Aussie reminds me so much of my boy. These herding dogs are so smart they pick up on anything so you have to be careful what you let them see or get away with.

@@MrAdrian0508 a friend got to train an Australian Shepherd that was the mascot dog for our local minor league baseball team. He would do tricks on the field between innings to entertain the crowds. OMG!! She Looks like my Browni! Or as my daughter used to call her "Brown-brown." But she passed away several years ago after giving us years of her fibers of love. I miss her SO MUCH. She looked very, very similar to the German Shedder being groomed. And the TALKING! Oh, how much I miss it. She would talk... and talk... and talk when I arrived home from work in the evenings. We spent so much time together and she liked to "PUSH" my wife off the bed at night to be next to me that my loving, patient wife would call her my "furry wife." She was the sweetest dog, but you didn't dare try to harm myself or my family, OR she became the demon you feared in your dreams. We loved her so much because she was just so loving, loyal and entertaining. And smart... she never wandered too far from home, she could be trusted off a leash around ALL dogs and cats, and she could open/close & lock doors. crying happy tears of beautiful memories. If you ever owned A Germy, you know what I mean by loyalty and tons of love.

I have a German Shepard with a recessive gene, his fur is golden instead of the usual colors. He's a work doggie, the moment the vest goes on, he's at work. When I take it off, he's a giant teddy bear/goof off. They're great dogs but they can be difficult for first timers.

Years ago when I was younger and fitter and able to meet tthe needs of a german shepherd I had the most beautiful girl. I loved her so much. Our wonderful bushland walks and hurling ourselves around the parks. Alas she is gone and I am older so I have smaller, quieter fur babies these days so I can still do the right thing by them. Its the responsible thing to do. But I will never forget my beautiful Sasha and as you call it, the song of her people.❤❤❤❤❤
