I wondered what kinds of strings worked best for this piezo kind of electric violin? I understand that both gut and synthetic strings can be used, but those marketed as "electric violin" strings like the D'Addario NS and Dogal are always steels.

I'm looking into the electric violin world right now. I'm planning to use pick-up on my acoustic violin before I invest in my first electric violin. As for the amplifier, what do you think is the most affordable one that's good for electric/acoustic with pickup violin?

I just purchased this electric violin! What do you use to go wireless? Someone suggested to use Sennheiser EW-D CI1 Wireless Guitar System. What are your thoughts on that? What would you suggest to go wireless on this electric violin?

Wow, thank you a lot for answering these questions! I wanted to ask - did you find any good solution how to play this violin with headphones? If you have experience doing that - would you recommand connecting the violin on one side of an Interface and the headphones on the other side or would it be better another way? Which cable would I need? Greetings to you, this video helped a lot already! :)

You can use iRig 2 or iRig HD2 with iPhone or iPad and just GarageBand or something like audio recorder and you will hear the sound from the iRig. With GarageBand, you can adjust the effects etc., that’s how I use my Yev105..

Hi! Thanks for your question! This violin does not have built-in battery, therefore you need an interface in order to use headphones, as you well say. I use a Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD as interface, and Ableton Live 10 as software. Then connect headphones to the pc or sound interface and it works great for me! Hope it helps!

Hello, my name is Vyacheslav, I am from Ukraine, I am a 4th grade violin student at the Muchny school. In the city where I live, we have a small group: guitarists, a drummer, I'm a violinist, a band player and others. I wanted to ask if this violin is difficult to learn for a child (I am 15 years old). To play, I use my great-grandfather's violin, which is already 110 years old, but I want to buy an electric violin, but I can't decide whether it will be difficult for me to master it. I hope you can help me in this matter. PS (sorry for mistakes if there are any)

Hi! Thank you for your question! If you would like to master your technique, I recommend that you practice and train with your classical violin. Even though the sound is easier to produce on an electric violin, this can limit some bow movements. It really depends which musical direction you want to take. If you want to have fun and explore different modern sounds, I would then recommend to get an electric violin! Hope this helped! All the best!

Hey! thanks for your question. Even though this violin is quite silent, you can still hear the strings when playing, so you can tune the instrument the same way you would tune your classic violin. Hope it helps!

Hi! In my opinion, this violin does the job for beginners and professionals, although high-end Yamaha violins will beat this particular model. All the comparisons and feature descriptions are detailed on the Yamaha website. Having said that, the sound quality of this violin is right up there and I find very easy to get very decent sound out of it, be it for studio recording, connected to an amplifier or used to distort and play with sound effects with a DAW. Hope it helps!

Hi Juan, thanks very much for posting this. I understand that most electric violins are a little heavier than acoustic ones and I was wondering if you found this to be the case with the YEV 104 and if so, if you found it a little more tiring to hold and play? I know that Yamaha offer a lighter model (YSV 104) but it is quite a bit more expensive and not sure if it is worth th extra, did you compare the two models. Thanks very much

Hi Michael, thanks for your question. In fairness, I haven't tried the YSV myself. I own several full size orchestral violins and, despite being lighter than the YEV104 (about 470-500g, same as the YSV) I don't feel much difference after playing 4-5 hours straight, with both the YEV and the orchestral violins. If you use it towards playing for small audiences, practicing/playing for fun/busking, etc, I would definitely go with the YEV104. Hope it helps!

Is there any other violin you would recommend for someone looking for the most silent violin possible for that price range? What about people looking for a similar violin who live in an apartment?
@JuanCarLostYT
@JuanCarLostYT 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for your question! This violin can be played in an apartment. It will be heard in the background if played during unsocial hours in a very quiet or small apartment. I have tried many violin models in that price range from Harley Benton and Yamaha and I must say they are all similar in terms of silent features. Harley Benton is more silent generally, but the sound quality is noticeable lower compared to most Yamaha violins, from my point of view. I hope it helps!

Hi! Thanks for your question! Usually Yamaha violins are superior in quality compared to other budget friendly brands. Can I just ask the name of the violin you're enquiring about? It depends what your needs are when looking for a violin and what style of playing you have. My violin is the YEV104, made in wood and so far, it has met all my needs!

Hi! I haven't tried the Yamaha YEV104 in metal version. The one I currently have is the one made of wooden material and the difference is very notorious compared to other violins I previously had made in metal. So I would definitely go for the wooden version if I had to choose again! I think you'll find useful reviews on the Yamaha website about which violin is more appropriate, depending on which style of music you're more inclined for. Hope it helps! Have a nice day

How would I know if I need to lower the bridge?
@JuanCarLostYT
@JuanCarLostYT 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! I would say, it all depends if you have another violin with a noticeable difference in bridge height that affects your playing. If you wanted to make it similar, you can get a professional to cut the top in a similar way to your other instrument. I have no concerns about this, as this violin is very comfortable to play as it is. Hope it helps!
