i’m FTM and i have been in an abusive relation with a man who groomed me. He was always telling me how much to eat what to wear and he constantly made fun of my friends and me using male pronouns. I was a shell of a human being everything I did was for him so hearing Lily open up about her struggles felt way too real. I developed eating disorders just so i could match his idea of the perfect “woman”. I stopped the relationship a year ago when i turned 14 and now i’m starting to come out to my family and friends about my gender without fear they’ll act the same way. A year later and sometimes I think about him. But Im moving on and hearing about how a youtuber I really enjoy went through the same thing idk i’m prolly just being overly emotional.

This is beautiful. I went through a very similar experience. I fought in the iraq war and I came home lost and broken. I obviously didnt take the same steps as you but I walked a similar path when I got home. I had lost parts of myself and others parts were broken and it's so validating hearing that someone else has had to pick up what they could try to fix it. I have never heard the story of some other person being busted up and having to find their old parts and make new ones like I had to do. I saw other vets fall down this hole and never come back, some got trapped in drugs or drinking, others killed themselves. I lost more friends here at home then in a war zone. Hearing your story and your journey is really awesome and hearing that someone else has made it through fear and trauma and put themselves back together is touching. I haven't ever heard a story like this with a happy ending before. That means more to me then you may ever know. Like I said the moves we made and the struggles are different but the game was the same. Thank you. I wish you love, peace, and good luck

Hearing your stories of abuse have been really eye-opening and cathartic. I'm polyamorous and was pressured into a monogamous relationship by my, finally coming to realize, abuser. It only recently hit me how much of myself I've destroyed for validation and appreciation from my boyfriend and I still get none of it. I hope one day to find myself again. It means a lot to hear such joy in your voice and knowing that could be me. I feel so much shame that I'm still here and just tolerating and excusing it away, fully aware of it all. a few years ago i got out of an extremely toxic friend group that not kept me from becoming my own person and being who i wanted to be. i had to conform to be who they wanted and when i came out they told me i was just going through a phase and refusal to go by the name i wanted bc one of the friends was an incredibly transphobic cis gay man who refused to allow trans men into the community. when i finally got away from them i finally got to start over and become who i wanted to be. granted because of DID im essentially constantly trying to form an image of myself that makes sense. BUT ANYWAYS, its always gratifying to see people who were in similar situations being able to escape and enter into a healthy environment! as someone who rly looks up to you its insanely joyful to see you get to start havin a more enjoyable, healthy situation! im hella happy for you lily!!

This was a very beautiful story of recovery and restarting life. A friend told me this Christmas 2020 that I was their best friend and it made me feel really good about myself. We exchanged gifts through mail, and it was the first time I received a gift from someone who wasn't family and thought it would look bad to not give something to me, while giving my sisters something. I attached a note on the gift I sent, and I ended it with this. "The future is uncertain, but all I want for you is for you to live your life as you see fit, with or without me," The reason why I'm mentioning this is because I think that is a standard we should hold ourselves to with our friends, and ourselves. If a person can not let you live your life as you want then they are not your friend/lover/family. Thank you for sharing your story, I'll share it with my friends and the local LGBTQA+ community I participate in.

I, myself am polyamorous and have had a string of attempted monogamous relationships. I don't think my situation was as bad as yours, but I feel like people don't treat polyamory as important at all. It's not just something I like to do because I wanna sleep around. I have genuine, strong emotional connections, and I'd be lying if I said I'd had felt properly validated until this. The only people who ever validated my were my family (which I realize is more than your probably got), but outside of that, the public really seemed to think I was some weirdo, and before seeing you in your Owl House stream, I didn't realize just how alone I felt. I'm in a healthy relationship and have been for four years now, but I've still got scars from previous ones. You're the first person I've seen who's publicly polyamorous. Thank you Lily. You are super valid to me! My Dad is poly and doesn't realize it... He had like three marriages each to two different women that went on for around a decade... He's just with one of them now and they've settled down, but he spent ten years loving both without the words or understanding why he just couldn't choose... It ended up being the other wife that dropped out of the whole mess. If more people knew about and accepted Polyamory they could have been a loving trio... I do love my Step Momma so it worked out for me, but I wish Daddy had had the words to explain why it was so hard for him during it all. So many people feel a need for more than a single partner; yet, lack the words to explain why they're unhappy. I know you aren’t a therapist but you do show people what they can be. You make me what to do more art, more writing, more crafting. And to just go explore what else I like.
