Any song you choose from this live film will be much more than a song. They are all an experience.

His choice of choreography here is intentional. The whole vibe of the Talking Heads was so Innovative and different and weird but everybody loved them. How could you not? He was nodding to cliches and tropes related to dancing, and doing it in the style that he does, which is purposely awkward and stilted, but always thought-provoking. Ace, you are going to love this band. And the studio cut of this, which is from their 1978 breakthrough album Fear of Music, produced by Brian Eno, is great as well; in fact that whole album is mind-blowing. But then again, like the Beatles and Lynyrd Skynyrd and Creedence, Talking Heads is one of those bands where I like every single song they ever did. They broke so much new ground and influenced so much newer music. In the performance aspect as well. Check out the music video to their hit Once in a Lifetime. Also, this entire concert movie, Stop Making Sense from 1983, is just incredible. And there's a whole build and sequence to it actually. People would dance in the aisles at the movie theater to it.

Live version is fun to watch, but the studio version is much better to listen to. Talking Heads was the music we played while deployed to the middle east in the 80's. We would dance with our FN-C1 rifle (Canadian Forces), in our camo and full kit, singing along to all their songs. It's how we dealt with the shit. Good times.

I liked your reaction! "Girlfriend is Better" from the same concert is a must see !! The studio version of Life During Wartime is definitely worthy of your Playlist!

You'll want to see Girlfriend is Better and Burning Down the House from this show. Then watch the whole concert movie for your own enjoyment. I think I've only ever heard this version of this song. Maybe it just sounds so similar to the album version that I have noticed.

Like others, I recommend watching the whole Stop Making Sense concert film (where this video came from). Probably the best concert film ever made!

The Studio Version is better but it's amazing how full of energy the group has. So it's a tie.

That "noise" is none other than Bernie Worrell's synth. Remember him from Parliament Funkadelic and Bootsie Collins's bands!

His show Utopia is also a great concert film. I went to see it before it went to Broadway because I will go to anything David Byrne does, he has never disappointing

"Stop Making Sense" is one of the best DVD concert films....."Psycho Killer" to start the concert is fantastic as is all the rest of the concert. Just wait until David Byrne gets into his "big suit" in the second half of this concert......you will know it when you see it!

Talking heads are a visual band, performance art. The studio versions sound better musically but how can you not watch the performance. Its a toss up. Heads live, tales studio.
