In this video I talk with a Jehovah's Witness engaged in public witnessing in Downtown Disneyland, Los Angeles. Rather than confront him, argue with him, or try to win him over, I try to explore his mindset and compare it with mine. The results are intriguing!

@@archieliburd4327 so there is doctrine stating that Jehovahs witnesses will be going door to door with the message that it's too late, that they have missed the window for turning to god for salvation? This is what I remember learning, but about 6 or 7 years ago, in a discussion with my father, I brought this point up and he told me they have never taught that.

Well Jesus would preach day and night and he would never stop preaching Jehovas (or god) word and when he died he told us to keep preaching this way to keep spreading his word which is the Bible. And god told us that we would have to sacrifice something to worship him so we sacrifice our time in the morning, we sacrifice our sleep (and I love sleeping) to preach his word and do what we were told.

spellbound111 ... nobody really knows the truth about anything. ..they only know their perspective/opinion on what they have experienced & feel to be true. (I personally feel most of us are wrong about most things in life, just a little less or more wrong than others, depending on the situation;) That being said, witnesses aren't allowed to think for themselves about anything relating to the organization. They do deserve to know about the many pedophilia cases that were admitted to & discussed in Australia, as well as the millions that have been paid out in lost lawsuits of pedophilia cases by the headquarters (while simultaneously saying to their followers that there is no problems like that in God's pure organization). The fact is that witnesses (and in all honesty, most people in general) don't want to face any type of uncomfortable facts that could cause them to question their current reality, they want to stay in their simple happy bubble where nobody questions the leadership....even when blatantly being lied to. it's a lot like scientology. ..give it enough time, the bullshit will start to come to the light and the people will start seeing the Incongruency of their leaders twisted tongues....or not..doesn't really matter when all is said & done. Regardless, it's their right to believe whatever they want..... given enough time, most beliefs that people hold onto so adamantly will probably be proven false...otherwise we'd all still be believing in Greek Mythology (hell, some people still do;)

Very Civil? Did you watch till the end? His purpose of approaching them was based on DECEIT. all lies are based on deceit. His approach here was based on deceit. The Bible says very clearly " to speak the truth with one another." Jehovah's Witnesses know if they lie deceive people they will be cast into the lake of fire the second death where all liars go. Who was speaking the truth in the video? Whose motive was based on DECEIT? Not knowing bible truth "people such as yourself enjoy having your ears tickled."

This very nice man was left without having been made to feel attacked. He certainly didn’t have an encounter with an “apostate” as far as he was concerned. No walls went up. Definitely one of the best reverse teachings I have seen. Everyone, note the respect shown here! Letting the JWs express themselves while, politely, presenting counter thoughts. Excellent conversation. Congratulation! If there is one thing this guy can take away of this conversation is that God will destroy billions of people without giving them any true evidence of his very existence. Sure, he may keep going on with this for years, but that thought will always be there, nagging and disturbing him until he chooses to stop the cognitive dissonance.

Also, we could have some level of respect for the Governing Body members if they acted as man well aware of their own imperfection. They would welcome constructive criticism and would ask forgiveness for specific teachings and mistakes they have done in the past. Instead, they claim the same authority as Moses who performed miracles and talked with God. Considering that they freely admit not to talk with God and to perform miracle, such conduct is abusive.

Of course, the witnesses don't know his personal story and they are expected to be brainwashed, since they are ACTIVE witnesses. It's not about those witnesses in the video, it's about Me, a person who doesn't consider themself a witness, yet subconsciously is bound by their law. The point of my post was that I was shocked when Lloyd defied their law. It showed me that even I, ME, NOT brainwashed, not a Witness, was still in mental chains. To me their law was still real and in my mind, deep in my subconscious, I was bound by their law and would not talk to them knowing that I am disfelloweshipped, knowing that by their laws I am no longer human. Don't you see? Deep inside their brainwashing affected me that much that I would agree with their decision that I am no longer human and should NOT be given the privilege of communication. And THAT is why it's fucked up. And that is why their brainwashing is powerful. Lloyd shows me that he IS free from their laws and he does not agree with being treated as a non-human. He sees himself a human with the right to communicate with whoever he pleases. However, he knows that witnesses won't see it that way, he knows that they will obey the law and will refuse him communication, that's why he doesn't inform them that he is disfellowshipped, but doesn't outright lie to them, either. He says "I have family who are witnesses", which is true.

I was raised a JW also..but i knew when i was 6 years old that there was something really odd about this crap, watching their weird easter ceremony. I felt so totally out of place, as if i was outside of my body somehow..but feeling trapped, and understanding i would have to wait til i was way much older before i could run away from home. Because i really used to think that that would be the only way to get away from these nutters. Eventually, i just put my foot down on my 12th birthday and said, -I'm m not coming to another meeting. Period. Long Long story short..I agree with you. You don't become free from this if you concentrate your whole life on returning to it in this way. At the same time, if someone dedicates their life to helping other people to see the deception and become free from brain wash and they feel this is the way to do it and it doesn't become a burden for them..then, who am i to judge? Still, i myself have been free for more than 3 decades now, and i sometimes take a look at these videos to see how many other people are finally breaking the chains. It makes me happy.

Having grown up as a Jehovah's Witness, and now being on the other side, I can say unreservedly, that this is the absolute best way to have a meaningful discussion with a JW. Not argumentative or disrepectful, but letting them speak so you can see what they are thinking. As I watched the video, I had flashbacks of that deep-in-your-gut feeling of dread when someone with intelligent arguments starts bringing up points you really can't refute. David did as good a job as one could do, but I guarantee he went home that night and thought a LOT about what was said. They do not respond to anger or attacks. (That's just Psych 101 in any situation.) Bravo for a brilliant insight into the mindset of JW's. If we can just keep getting them to think and question, think how many we can save.

So Ruben Ortiz's hypothesis worked. I usually let them preach to me and say what they want. Then I start asking questions about the things they're preaching about until they mention Armageddon and that's when I ask them: "What's Armageddon?" As soon as the mention something about war or destroying then my next question will be: "I thought Jehovah hated violence? How come he's using it as a solution of our problems?" I would say like 90% of the time, they stay at least 5 seconds in the limbo, thinking of what I just ask them about and 100% of the time they'll give me an unsatisfactory answer

Armageddon is a frightening word to many, however, the bible speaks of Armageddon as the place of a righteous war fought by God. - Rev 16: 14, 16 This war of God will prepare the way for a righteous new world. Unlike the wars of men, which kill both the good and the bad, Armageddon will destroy only the bad. Consider the blessings when the wicked will no longer be: 1) All humankind at peace. Ps 72:7 2) No more war. Ps 46: 8, 9 3) Fine homes & enjoyable work for everyone. Isa 65: 21-23 4) Crime, violence, wickedness will be gone. Ps 37: 9, 10 5) A paradise earth. Ps 37: 29 6) Plenty of good things for all to eat. Ps 72: 16 ; 67: 6 7) No more sickness, old age or death. Rev 21: 3, 4 8) The dead are brought back to life. Rev 20: 13 Who wouldn't want to walk anywhere at any time of the day or night w/o fear of being harmed? Only a promised paradise earth govern by righteous ruler (Jehovah & Jesus Christ) can fulfill these.

Yeah, realize that we was right in leaving Satan’s world and joining JW’s. Dude, I love those people. I’ve never met a religion more ethnically or linguistically diverse. They’re kind to you, they want to help you, and if have questions about them, they answer respectfully.

Lloyd this video has given me a few ideas on how to handle a conversation with witnesses, without bringing emotions into the interaction. Many conversations I have with them, follow the usual course of "ok what do you think is the right religion then?" The answering a question, with one of their own, is something I've been trying to tackle for some time. Your example here has shown me what steps I can take to keep accusations and point scoring out of my interactions with them. Your conversation with David, has helped me immensely.

Just caught up with this - I really enjoyed the conversation and the use of street epistemology. Very respectful and enlightening.
