Electrifying agriculture is a huge problem (perhaps why this government wants to kill off farming before this becomes an obvious problem). Combine harvesters use 200kW of power and upwards and, at harvest time, run the clock round. To do this electrically needs super fast chargers in a huge number of remote locations. Once the harvest is over the infrastructure will be relatively little used until the next year but will still need to be maintained.

I wish someone would ask the Millibands of this world, and all the other EV zealots, where is all the electricity going to come from? At the moment only some 20% of the energy consumed in the UK is in the form of electricity. The other 80% is oil, gas and road fuels. The National Grid is already hinting about power cuts, so how are we going to generate all this electricity to replace road fuel and the gas from our boilers which are supposed to be replaced by heats pumps?

I am expected to give up my fossil fuel car in favour of an electric one to reduce UK emissions from 1% to 0.5% of the world's pollution. Half a percent and at the same time paying part of the $300Billion agreed at COP29.
