Another United fan probably from the 90's era onwards fed an unbelievable diet of success under SAF, which in United's history is not the norm and will never be repeated. Only under Sir Matt Busby from the babes in the 50's to the late 60's did they enjoy any kind of sustained success. Everything else and every other manager has delivered moderate success, usually in the cups only. Throughout the 70s and 80s United were miles off winning the league so the last 11 years has simply reverted to type. The majority of fans might not like it, but that's the reality.

Actually Wolves were a very good team in the 50/60s and Spurs early 60s, Leeds early 70s, Pool late 70s/80s. Only they have come back to prominence and it took them 30 years to win 1 title. United as you mention had arguably and potentially the greatest ever team in the mid to late 50s and could well have dominated in the 60s had it not been for the Munich tragedy. SAF even surpassed the great Sir Matt. Granted United have been nowhere near the level in the last decade but many of the fans have not just jumped on the 90s bandwagon. The reality is that even though you don’t like it even when United are bad they are still news and that’s because they have a global fan base. The ABU are desperate for United to keep underperforming because they know just what they can achieve when they get themselves organised. Maybe there will not be another SAF to dominate but the frightening thing for you and the ABU is there may be just someone who comes along that will reawaken the sleeping giant. It’s definitely not Gareth.
