On any other day I would never say this, but Merse summed it up perfectly on Sky after the game. Trossard would never just punt the ball in the way that he did if he thought play was continuing. But he knew play was getting stopped so booted it into row z. Knew what he was doing, deserved the second yellow.

People like cundy who defend refs inconsistent decisions, even the glaringly obvious and more dubious ones, are bringing the english football industry into disripute.. It may have the most money sloshing about, but it refs and the banter style punditry when defending them, is corroding the overall quality of the whole product.
