Ain't this what the whole nation was shouting at Southgate for? Lee actually played one of the most exciting teams on paper who before a ball was kicked you would of said we should of battered them. Palmer says himself he can play anywhere on the pitch... maybe he can't and should drop saka to bench . Gordon and foden were terrible and trent was walking about in the first half. He doesn’t display anything at all to suggest he’s good enough. Why would the players respect a guy like this. Below average player, and never achieved anything. For me i admire him for being bold but it wasn't good for several reasons. We needed a 9. I would drop Foden, play Palmer as the 10, Watkins in 9, Bellingham 8. I don't think you can have both Lewis and Trent in, we need someone who is capable in midfield of trying to cover when the full back bombs forward and only 1 can go forward at a time, Trent & Lewis both were doing it leaving us exposed at the back. Maybe try Gomez instead of Rice? Not sure there but in future definitely will see Wharton in that 6. City will buy him in the Summer i think. I think it will probably be Stone & Guehi in CB. Still don't mind losing the odd game Nations League is pointless and the best thing about the extra games is the chance to experiment outside of games that matter, but the sub should have saved the game, for me you sub Foden for Watkins and the whole team rebalances and a different outcome is possible, taking Gordon off just added to the imbalance of the team.

I know he plays no 9 at u21 level and tbh I liked the look of the team pre match however, it was a shocker wasn’t it? Gomes was a revelation last game and I think we really should be having him as an integral part of the starting 11. The attempts to fit them all in will undo us again, just like the ‘golden generation’. Pick a team for the system and style of play we have not to get them all in. Bellingham has to start imo - he’s too good, same for foden but we need to figure out where and how. I’d play Jude alongside Gomes as an 8 and drop Rice, Foden I’m not so sure about. Carsley can’t get the job on the back of that can he?

Now we have this moron who decides to leave Watkins on the bench and play 3 number 10s.

On the Klop at red bull situation. The reason German fans hate RB is because of the way they cheated past the 50+1 fan agreement which gives fans controlling interest in each club. Way they did it also stinks, reducing quantity that have a say, & "surprisingly" all 17 of them have history / allegiance with RB.. One of the best things about European football is the 50+1 fan agreement in Germany ( wish UK, would implement similar ).

@@justalffie then, since you are not English. That shouldn't be your headache. You can't tell a nan how to live his life not to talk of a country. So far, what they do or say about themselves doesn't affect you adversely. Or, how do English football fans and pundits saying they are the best, and having expectations to win affect you adversely? Every country wants to win. Every country believes they are the best. Every man calls his wife the most beautiful. How then is England not allowed to do that. You really mean, if they start saying they are bad and poor, they will start winning? Look the problem with them not winning is not because they don't have the players. That's what many of you want us to believe for whatever reasons, I don't know. There are other reasons why they've not been able to win. Some of which are: their mentality, sentiment of shoehorning players and lack of an effective and appropriate style of play for their players. You don't need to have eleven Maradonas before you win something. England just need a team but at the moment they have bunch of good players and really good players at that.

No 6 can control the midfield alone mate, Rice has been left alone for England now since the start of the Euros. We either have 8 at the back or 7 up front depending on if we're in possession but we only ever have one in the middle of the park now, the place where games are won or lost. This means gaps in front of our appalling defence for opposition attackers to thread balls through and no one to run the ball from the centre of the park in any direction as the 6 can't move from in front of the centre halves. In these formations the 6 is easy to target, Rice himself targets opposition 6s the second they are isolated for the Arsenal constantly. This is no different than what Ten Haag does at Utd.

Agreed with that caller...aside from the clueless set up with the plethora of quality...PICKFORD NEEDS TO BE DROPPED. Too many side antics and just simply not good enough. Play pope, Henderson, Johnstone even but yea he doesn't bring much security

I’ve been happy with Lee’s squad selections. They’ve been fair and he’s actually picked players based of form - Livramento, Curtis Jones, Madueke, Rico Lewis, Angel Gomes and most recently Solanke, have all deserved they’re call-ups. It’s been a nice change from watching Southgate pick his favourites and ignoring those who deserve to be selected. I’ve also been impressed with the football we’ve under Lee too, it’s been refreshing and positive. However, yesterday was a disaster. There’s some credit in trying a new formation but we need a striker in the team, two false 9’s is overkill for any team. Moreover, starting Palmer in CM is as stupid as it gets. Even a 10 year old wouldn’t do that. A back four of Trent/Walker, Stones, Colwill, Lewis is our strongest back four so no complaints there. But on the other hand the manager should know that it’s impossible to fit Saka, Bellingham, Foden, and Palmer, into the same starting eleven effectively. Sacrificing a CM to make room for a RW/CAM should never be an option yet that’s exactly what Lee did. This is the best batch of talent England have produced EVER, our quality and depth is unbelievable. If we don’t win a trophy by 2030 it’ll be the biggest failure in national football history.

The goalkeeper situation is genuinely a concern as Pickford is a liability, Pope isn’t great with his feet and no one seems to fancy Henderson. We better hope that Trafford kicks on and kicks on quickly

This is exactly why he doesn't want the job, he has been given no expectation, he hasn't really been given any responsibility, and this is still how people react, good luck finding a manager if you're this toxic.

Before everyone moans the defending tonight was AWFUL but these nothing games are the games for the manager to try new formations/players etc. I wouldn't have set the team up the way he did but he tried something different. All we can hope is that he has learnt from that.
