No. Many knew of Mark's genius back in the eighties. Mark was well respected and admired by his peers

@@skygazer6898 I understand that but Mark Hollis and Talk Talk were generally ignored in the 80s (except for "It's My Life") Their label, EMI, did not do a good job of promoting outside of UK and Europe - Mark fought with them constantly over creative and marketing issues and the band suffered as a result. Artistically, they were admired and respected yes, but they never really "broke" outside of Europe.

Those last two albums definitely aren't as "big tent" as their more commercially successful albums, but I think they are Talk Talk's/Hollis' best works.
