I watched an interview with Camille Mitchell aka Sheriff Adams talking about how she will always have a soft spot for Tom. Camille mentioned how one summer she took her son with her to the ‘Kent farm’. After shooting her scene Camille went looking for her son and Tom was throwing a ball around with him. She said Tom could have easily ignored him and gone straight to his trailer but it meant a lot to her and her son that Tom spent time with him. Her son was a huge Superman fan, so to him he was playing ball with Superman ❤❤❤

This is a good episode for Lana’s character. I like that they wanted to break away from the “damsel in distress” trope and have her stand up for herself. Anston Mount did a very good job playing a creep. Solid episode all around. 1.5 roses for me 🌹 🥀

Had to stop myself from jumping into the comments to "correct" the praise Michael was already giving him, in that it wasn't over the top enough :) I mean the headline takeaway of _Discovery_ season 2 was "everyone wants to see Pike get his own series as soon as possible". The show was created because of him. As a die hard Trekkie, I felt he embodied the spirit of the franchise better than anyone else in modern Trek. Partly he gets some nice old school writing, but in large part it's the overall integrity and spirit in the acting. (And it cracks me up that this _Smallville_ role is where I first saw him, being the exact opposite in both personality and depth, but just as good a performance!)

The fact that Anson's character was truly just a jealous abusive ex boyfriend is what made it so effective and intense. It's very realistic and I remember this episode scared me a lot as a kid way before I ever had to deal with men like that myself and was able to relate to Lana. I can see how this villain might not be as scary and intense to a lot of male viewers because of the subject matter being a bit unrelatable to them.

You guys should have highlighted how both Lana and Clark talked to each other as both of them looked like they was teary-eyed speaking to each other at 12:29 as Clark found out he had consequences for his actions fighting the three guys to save Lana, who by the way hated it because her character feels as if she's not strong enough to be with someone as strong as Clark. I thought that scene was pitch perfect based on their relationship since season one. Kristin and Tom gaved us absolutely everything to give us a top tier relationship act for that long, which by the way can get boring by the first hour on a movie. The nuances are always strong with them and everytime you watch them actually, both their scenes always hit home runs.

@@TalkVillePodcast definitely guys. Heck loved you and Tom's talkville podcast idea from the getgo and Ryan is awesome in the show as well. Hope to catch you all at one of the cons one day
@Sage0130 Жыл бұрын
Anson Mount was really creepy and his performance still holds up. Michael also did a great job of portraying Lex teetering on the brink of murder but convincingly pulling himself back from crossing that line. Also I love the combat training scene with Lex and Lana. I think they both played it perfectly. Plot wise, I'm convinced that Lana should 100% know that Clark is superhuman after the fight in the back alley. A huge reason as to why I have a love-hate relationship with this show is that moments like this keep happening for Lana and Chloe for years, and yet neither of them seem to put it together. Watching it again now, I feel like both Chloe and Lana should have plausibly figured it out in season one.
@vbrandy7088 Жыл бұрын
Well Lana started to believe that Clark might be different ever since he saved her from the tornado but he gaslighted her by telling her "there nothing more to me than what you see" and that he wasn't in the truck. In this episode Lana didn't see clark fight those guys. Clark's excuses was that they were drunk and that he was highly motivated because of the thought of them hurting her so she let it go but her suspicion never disapeared. As for Chloe as much as she was aware of all the weird and supernatural stuff happening in Smallville and was always investigating she definitely could have figured it out sooner too but obviously Chloe and Lana not finding out his secrets was a plot that the writers wanted to drag for several seasons.
@Sage0130 Жыл бұрын
@@vbrandy7088 I get that. The problem is that they dragged it on for so long with Lana that it made her continued ignorance unbelievable. That in turn made Lana an unbelievable character. What made it especially aggravating is that the show made it clear that Lana would find out. The season 3 episode "Hereafter" featured a meteor infected person who could view the moment of a person's death just by touching them. When he touches Lana, he sees her on her deathbed clutching her (now purified) kryptonite necklace that Clark has been in possession of as of "Visage." I figured she'd find out in season 4, but it would be much longer. The longer it took, the more ridiculous it looked to see Lana express her frustrations about Clark's secrecy.
@vbrandy7088 Жыл бұрын
@NathanJCaboose I get what you mean I also think that Clark should have told her the truth sooner like Tom said on TalkVille at the beginning of season 2 "Lana wasn't gonna tell Clark she needed him to say it cause it doesn't have the same impact" . But she wasn't ignorant she was actually very aware that he wasn't being truthful and that he might be different ever since he saved her from the tornado. At several occasions throughout the seasons she even thought that he was meteor infected but Clark would always gaslight her or deny that he was different. Lana was always suspicious but Clark being an alien was way beyond her imagination hence why she had to find out with her own eyes just like Chloe had to see it with her own eyes too.

21:26 You guys talked about Clark speed and how he is perceived by 3rd parties. Here is what is shown by the series: 1. Clark's Powers grown in time, he is faster, stronger and more resistant over time. As show when bullets used to make some damage on him earlier. His speed is also not that impressive on pilot on season one, maybe a little below 200 mph? It is shown he speeding alongside the school bus through the cornfield. 2. Most of the time, the show displays speeding actions from his accelerated perception, and that includes the blur that he leaves behind. 3. On Lana's wedding (Season 6) there are multiple viewpoints of same scenes, and from Lana's viewpoint, Clark simply vanishes, where in his viewpoint the blur is visible. 4. Only on Season 8 and because clark slowed down in front of a camera, that Jimmy was able to see the red-blue blur and is the first time that he is perceived by a third party as a blur. 5. He can change the speed he is running, like we can when we are jogging, we can see through the series he going across the globe really fast when needed, but he slows down when inside a urban area (maybe it's easier to navigate? maybe concern from accidental hits? who knows?) 6. IRL: Achieving a speed that would make him invisible to the naked eye, he would need to be fast enough to travel the entire view distance of a person at bout 1/15 of a second (about 45 miles per second should be just enough), he would produce so much shockwaves and thunder noises by breaking the sound barrier that would made a really LOUD and VISIBLE effect. And by traveling at such speed would make so much friction within particles in the air that would potentially destroy his clothes (and shoes) and/or set him on fire.

This was a really good episode... Definitely 🌹🌹(2 roses)... There is indeed a new sheriff in town... She's one of those characters that you learn to love over time... Clark gets in trouble for saving Lana from college kids that lightweight abused her... Lex being the big brother for Lana never gets old 😊... So he trains her to defend herself, while also dealing with a stalker who happens to be Helen's ex who comes onto Helen... Then we get to see Lana saving Clark from that lawsuit and seeing how excited Lana was when Clark found out that she had his back... Definitely a nice moment between Clark and Lana there 😊... Then when Helen's ex tries to frame Lex then attacks (and nearly kills) Helen, we see one of the rare times that Lex loses his cool and gives the sheriff that WHAT FOR... Sheriff: "Mr. Luthor, if you get involved--" Lex: "YOU'LL WHAT?!?!?... ARREST ME AND MAKE ME PICK UP TRASH?!?!?" That scene was very powerful and even underrated... Clark and Lex then work together to bring in Paul (Helen's ex)... I will say that Lex had chemistry with everyone he had a scene with whether it was Clark, Lana, Helen, The Sheriff and Paul... This is definitely a Lex-centered episode and it was really good... Shoutout to Mike on this one as he doesn't realize how great he is ✊🏾✊🏾... #TalkvilleWednesdays #LoveThePodcastFellas #NextEpisodeIsOneOfMyFavorites By the way, Lana hitting Clark with the: "Don't worry, Clark... I'm not gonna be out prowling the night, fighting crime"... Definitely a shoutout to Batman there 😂😂😂

Really enjoying this podcast, Michael and Tom! As a long time Superman fan (1965!), it took me awhile to get into Smallville because of the changes the show made vs. comic book canon. Seeing it as an alternative vision really helped me begin to enjoy the show. Keep on going with this podcast, guys!

Hearing Tom and Michael sing patreons names is really nice and special❤❤. Thank you so much guys you fulfilled my wish to hear you sing together and I hope you will do it again. Beautiful voices. Talk Ville also gives us things like these, it's precious.❤

Tom, consistently about the show: "Yeah, I don't remember" Tom, about nightclubs back in the day: Immediately names 4

Andy Conners played a pimp in Season 6 again😂. I also noticed how they use the same guest stars 😂

I watched pool hall junkies because Michael was in it and loved it. So good. I enjoyed the Anson Mount work in it and was later blown away by his work on Hell on Wheels. You guys have done some good work through the years. Thanks for the entertaining performances. It was fun meeting Michael and Tom in Toronto. Stay well all of you

Did anyone else say “Damn, who’s that” when Lex and Clark opened the shower curtain with the dead henchman 😂. Never gets old
