Interesting visit to Tallahassee. Did not realize the capitol building of Florida was so modern. Quite a contrast to the older buildings and Spanish-moss covered tree-lined streets.

I lived in Tally for over a decade, and it is truly a beautiful city. And that was 25 years ago. They have built up so much since then and your video didn't really do it justice. When I lived there, there was a tree ordinance that you had to have special permission to cut a tree down. It is known for its live oaks with Spanish moss and the canopy roads which are pretty breathtaking. Maybe you guys will go back one day and give a fuller picture.

Fun fact @3:00 on the right is the former St James Church(Florida Tax Watch now). In 1865 during\after the Battle of Natural Bridge(in Woodville a few miles south) the Confederate forces used the lower floor of St James Church as a surgical ward. The wagons(yesterday year’s ambulances) would travel down the road just as you are and turn in at the end of the building where the back doors were located. Picked up a few things having lived here for over 50yrs…ack I’m getting old 😂

Started Florida State out here about 15 years ago and never looked back. I'm not moving out of this city any time soon, its better than most other capital cities and WAY better than most other cities in Florida. Especially Ft Lauderdale, which was where I grew up.

Totally missed the canopy roads and rolling hills that make Tallahassee so beautiful. Wanted to see more of Adams St and Gaines St with its bars and restaurants. So many beautiful neighborhoodsand parks leading out of the downtown that didn't get mentioned.

Try staying in the Ramada, next to Disney World, in Orlando. The fridge leaked, hot water? Warm at best. The ceiling was half painted. One visit you had to barge with your shoulder to open the door getting in.

I lived in Tallahassee for quite a while. And I loved it there, unfortunately, it got too expensive and the put up too many condos, so I moved. Also, I wish this video showed the colleges, they're an essential part of the city.

@@losonamission We have only one day to visit in each city, and always only explore the downtown and area around it. City downtowns are its heart and pulse, and always different and unique from any other city. We don't do suburbs - they are the same everywhere and uninteresting. Tallahassee has a beautiful city center, quiet, clean and well kept. But it's nothing like New Orleans, Miami, San Antonio, Nashville. Cities like those have thousands of residents living in their downtowns, with throngs of people packing the sidewalks. Very different.
@losonamission2 жыл бұрын
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip tbh, not every city y’all visit is going to have a thriving downtown. If you really want to see what the city has to offer. You should at least stick around more then a day. Also even though you didn’t compare Tallahassee to any other cities that y’all listed. Tallahassee isn’t going to be like the other cities. Those cities are more so tourist cities. Tallahassee isn’t really a tourist city. I never said anything about y’all going to the suburbs.
@JoeandNicsRoadTrip2 жыл бұрын
@@losonamission We're visiting 160 cities over the course of a year. Only have time for one day per city. I'm ONLY interested in the vibe and personality of a city's center. Considering that, I never said Tallahassee was going to be the same as other cities, just that it has a quiet downtown.

So I thought this would be a fun video to watch because I live in monticello Tallahassee area. Never seen this guys videos before. And to me from the start it felt like they were intentionally showing the worst of Tallahassee and looking for things to complain about. Iv lived here my whole life and they showed none of the beauty Tallahassee has to offer. They could have gone to cascade parks or lake Ella or shown the historical side of monticello. The beautiful rolling hills. Instead they show graffiti and complain about dirt down an alleyway. I gave this a thumbs down because it was shown in the most criticizing way possible. Maybe there big city people and are used to the posh city life. Idk. Was not impressed at all.

I don't like living here in Tallahassee. I beg my husband for us to move. There's nothing to do here. Always have to travel to do anything fun. No good working places, unless your in the goverment. How we live in the Capitol but to do anything major for the VA, we have to go to Gainesville. I remember when like 80 people from Tallahassee went to Greenville SC to see what makes that area grow and be booming so well. I could have saved Tax payers a lot of money and told them, Tallahassee will never be a Greenville SC. No good industry to bring anyone hear to stay. Greenville has a great river that goes through downtown to build up around. Many many places that have free concerts in the parks with picnic for family time with a concerts. If they are around, we haven't found it.
