One of the most iconic engines ever! That 3.8 litre turbo charged and eventually inter cooled V6 was a phenomenal motor of the 80’s and 33 years after last production, it still is!! 31 years after production if you’re thinking of the 1989 20th anniversary Turbo Trans Am. Great fucking build!

That was not a GNX; GNXs do not squat like that on launch, they lift in the rear due to the ladder bar rear suspension. The GN at 2:15 uses the factory 4-link. Also, the GN emblem is visible on the left of the trunk lid, plus the car does not have the fender flares, etc.

The white T-Type at the beginning of the video is LS powered, not a real turbo Buick. If it was it would have been faster. Check out Tony Gomes 7 second street legal car.

I noticed that too. The sound is distinctly NOT a Buick V6 either. Plus the best evidence of all is you can count 4 plug wires during the engine bay shots. I will say this though, the white with black trim Regals IMO were second in looks behind the all black livery. That is a sharp looking Buick.

+gbgn1 - I prefer T-Types and Grand Nationals to have V6 Turbos but it is not your car and if it was, you wouldn't be running 8 second 1/4 miles. On a good day, this is a high 7 second car. What in the hell do YOU have that could compare? I didn't think so.
@buickttype9 жыл бұрын
+Racer I raced the car for many years in a class that required the factory V6 "109" block. Even with a girdle, steel main caps and a forged crankshaft, we cracked 4 or 5 blocks. That's why we eventually went with a Dart SBC Chevy motor. Makes decent power and so far is very reliable. Thanks!
@racer7749 жыл бұрын
buickttype You are quite welcome. It is a shame that so many non-experienced fanboys want to attempt to discredit someone for what they, themselves have NEVER even tried while racing. Your V8 conversion is understandable, particularly while getting past the low 9 second barrier. Chris Chow went through the same thing with his WE4 and his car turned out pretty well. I haven't talked to him in several years but someone told me he had a mishap at speed and rolled it. Last time we spoke, he was looking to buy a chassis that was SFI approved for 6.50 which was before his mentioned accident. I have an 8 second street bike but my TRs have never been out of the 10s at best. For TRs, I now just own a semi-daily driver that runs 11.40s on an untouched short block. Nice car you have. It's very cool regardless of it's powertrain while being QUITE fast!
@gbgn19 жыл бұрын
+Racer it's only my opinion . Lol I don't have to like your car. I've got a 9.90 stock block we4. A stage 2 project car and I built a custom set up 3800 turbo series 2 blue T. That will run high to mid 10's when I get the turbo back from getting a build. A Total street car / everyday car. I don't need 8's. There are many ta block& stage block 8 second Buicks. Just have to know how to keep them together. I'm happy you run 8's but to get mad at a silly comment... Lol relax
@racer7749 жыл бұрын
gbgn1 I understand it was ONLY your opinion, sir but particularly as an adult, negative opinions are often better left unsaid because it does not directly or indirectly affect you, nor does it do harm to anyone for this man choosing to use a V8 in in T-Type. Let's say you were at the track and noticed this car for the first time and it's engine was not running. It had a dial-in or an index which showed it to be an 8 second car. You walked over to check it out. Would you have told the owner it was LAME that he chose to install a V8 or would you simply walk away thinking to yourself or voicing it to one of your companions? Mature adults conduct themselves properly while online just as they would face to face with someone. I hope you can see where I'm coming from. We all make mistakes but most try not to continually do so. Take care and be safe.
