While Lonerism is my favorite album of the discography I don’t know if I’d call it Tame Impala’s irrefutable golden age, both Currents and Slow Rush are really cool and innovative. And as far as we know the best is yet to come.

The new sound is actually kind of a combination of Lonerism and Currents based on what I've heard on the teaser song. Don't expect much of it though. Kevin is mostly going for that lush dream pop sound. But if sounds a little bit more polished and more retro infused version of Currents.

Yeah the drummer is now playing a synthesizer and they got a new guy to play the drums. All members are only for live shows and appearances though. Kevin Parker - the singer - makes it all by himself in the studio and gets some to help him mix the final product.

I’ll always love Kevin and whatever he decides to do with his music remember when this WAS Tame Impala before currents came out. I thought this stuff was phenomenal it’s like this psychedelic rock music that was loud but crisp and well produced. Currents is my favorite really but Lonerism was such a great album when I was 18 when it came out

Nothing about this is 'new' or innovative. I'm not denying the awesomeness that is Tame Impala but the origin of their sound started over 50 years ago. Just looking at their equipment should hint at that! It's an excellent revival and I love what they are doing.

They're compressed through a DBX 165A compressor. They make the drums sound super tight. It sort of makes them sound electronic.
