LYRICS ❤ [Verse 1] I close my front door and turn on the light I let out a breath and hold in a sigh Ain't nothin' new, ain't that much in sight And if I'm counting days, dream fruition ain't what it's looking like [Chorus] But strictly speaking, I'm still on track Strictly speaking, I'm holding on More than a minor setback But strictly speaking, I'm still on track And all of my dreams are still in sight 'Cause strictly speaking, I've got my whole life I lost a wheel a while back But strictly speaking, I'm still on track Challenges falling in my lap Strung out again, but still on track [Verse 2] I know it's unrealistic, over-optimistic I know I tried before this, I know it's nearly August I know I can't ignore this, looking forward to all this Sayin', "Babe, I just adore this" and, "Babe, can we afford this?" I know it's been a slow year, nothin' much to show here I didn't really go for it, so not a lot to show for it [Refrain] The hardest part is over, adjusting makes it slower So glad you're comin' over, a wall to bring us closer The world ain't cheerin' for ya, nothin' to lose it over We're just a shuttle over, the rest comes easy The rest comes easy [Chorus] ('Cause life's like that) But strictly speaking, I'm still on track Strictly speaking, I'm holding back Troubles keep falling in my lap Yeah, but strictly speaking, I'm still on track So tell everyone I'll be alright 'Cause strictly speaking, I've got my whole life More than one major setback But strictly speaking, I'm still on track (Yeah) [Refrain] The hardest part is over, adjusting makes it slower (Ooh) So glad you're comin' over, a wall to bring us closer (Still on track, motherfucker) The world ain't rootin' for ya, nothin' to lose it over We're just a little older, the rest gets easy The rest gets easy.

i remember being home from uni for a weekend visiting family, and as i boarded the GoBus back to school i sat down and began listening to the 2nd half of the album (for the first time), as the big green toronto bus departed --- i remember thinking near the end of this track "this is exactly what i needed to hear... i needed this so much" and becoming really emotional, no one particular emotion exactly, but many strong ones washing over at once . It was wonderful feeling so intensely, and it was this song which made it so. Thats not a crazy story i guess, but how a song can come into your life at the exact right moment you need it , and give you something you didn't even know you did, i think is both powerful and relatable. That realization, which is so true, might as well apply to every performer every artist every musician every creative...For Instance, I have had to be without my electric Tele for a good while now and it is damn near killing me, still is killing me....the guitar is ready now but I have not earned the funds yet, so the guitar shall spend another night in the shop, all alone, just like me, not being with my most blessed friend, not being able to create...with the help of Miriel, my beloved (I named my Tele after a legendary lady), my one and only true friend....along with this music, when the music is your only friend, with Tame Impala forever always coming to the rescue! One Love One Heart Peace Out Peace Out Peace Lore Ekstasis Ea Peace Lore Ekstasis Ea!

@@kevinscholfield4880 Oh wow... Umm the only thing going into your guitar's input jack is a cord... Right?? You seem to have a special bond with that guitar. No judgement though, pal. Just don't get stuck.

Kevin, you may probably never see this but I just want to say thank you for helping me get through this quarantine and through a tough break up as a result, you were there for me when I had nothing else to turn to for solitude and for that I'm infinitely grateful, your music has changed me in ways I will never be able to explain.
