On the access cover you used ca on I wrapped a piece of the foam tape you used on the mount plate around the cover cap fitting and friction pressed it on. works pretty darn good and comes off with needle nose pliers!!!

I've been a bit turned on and off by this kit, mostly it has been annoying me. But watching a build video, it actually looks quite nice, and a joy to put together, so now I'm on the rise again. I liked your way of explaining and the video quality was really nice, so I subscribed. I'll try watch the remaining parts to the build later on.

Thanks - kind of felt the same way until I started building it. Such a unique vehicle.

Great video. Thanks for showing the building process. I´m still not quite sure of buying one. So seeing the build really helps. Can´t await the second part.

@@Competitionx Yes, it is. Until now I'm really interested in this car. For me the critical point is the battery door.

It's not QUITE as problematic as it might seem. I'll have a video up soon showing how to do a motor swap and battery install.

Great video. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Definitely appreciate all the time you put into editing your videos. By the way, how did you get your Super Avante so early? Did Tamiya send out early kits to promote it?
@Competitionx3 жыл бұрын
Thanks - appreciate the kind words. Working on the next part now and it should be ready next week. And yes, Tamiya sent out a couple kits early to promote them.

Hi, great build ! 👏 I can see you will use 17.5 motor ? Is your esc blinky ? Which ratio will you use ? Pinion ? Gear ? Thanks a lot for the informations. ;)
@Competitionx3 жыл бұрын
Yes, 17.5T (initially, but switched to 13.5T at a later time). ESC will be in Blinky mode (for racing) but might be open with some timing for practice. We like to go fast! :) Still trying to get the gearing right but should have it close on the next run. Will post a follow up video soon.
@alienrctv7793 жыл бұрын
Interresting. 😁 Ok, 13.5 blinky should be ok for the ball diff. 🤗 I'm not very confident about the ball diff with High power 13.5 motor on grippy surface. 😅 Very interrested by your feedback on test and ratio input. Thanks again. 🤗

Hello. The installation of the motor is very severe. I posted a video link on my blog. I am very much looking forward to the continuation. Thank you.
@Competitionx3 жыл бұрын
The install is not all that hard, nor is the removal (it does require a few extra screws). It is, however, going to be a pain to install the brushless motor simply because the solder tabs are in very close contact with different parts of the chassis (depending on how you clock the motor). Working on a solution to that but it's not going to be popular.
@leonarddye19753 жыл бұрын
Is this a case for mounting the motor and the esc and check the wire length, mark and un mount the motor and solder the leads and remount the motor?

Finished it yet? Let's see some running videos!

It is finished, just waiting on the body to be back from getting painted. Not a fan of the box art paint, so thought I'd do something different...

Can't wait to get mine! Great vid. This thing is really intriguing me. What are the exhaust looking parts that come out of the back used for?
@Competitionx3 жыл бұрын
Those exhaust parts don't really do anything. They're similar to the exhaust seen on the back of the Comical kits. So, I guess just for show.

I'm worried about fitting sonic motor in the car and the buildup of heat in the motor compartment.
@Competitionx3 жыл бұрын
Actually, the motor fits fine (see Part 5 of the Build Series for more info). The motor area is a bit cramped, however Tamiya has built in an internal scoop that has a mount point for a fan, blowing straight down on top of the motor. If you're worried about heat (or run in hotter temps), the fan will help keep things cool!
@leonarddye19753 жыл бұрын
@@Competitionx Great to hear! I have a new sonic brushless motor and esc that I wanted to use. If you have a part number for a fan that fits, that would be very helpful. Love the manual! Makes the build much easier to imagine. Thanks.
@Competitionx3 жыл бұрын
I haven't dropped a fan in just yet - I need to find one that will fit. I'll be working on that soon.

Any reason why Tamiya chose ball diffs instead of gear like their recent releases? I'm not sure how easy diffs will be to access but hope it won't need regular maintenance...
@Competitionx3 жыл бұрын
Ya, not sure. I'm looking to see what gear diffs might be compatible with this car - I think I'll be swapping over when I get the chance. They're not too difficult to get to, however it's the initial adjustment of the ball diffs I really don't want to mess with.
