Seeing you with those old stick radios just makes me smile, I always preferred those over the pistols. Thank you for the video. As far as the screws, all the tamiyas I have ever built have had very tight screws. I use a jis screwdriver that stops the heads from stripping. I also rub the threads in either a little black grease or chapstick. Makes those screws go in much much easier.

I really wish Tamiya would start producing and developing stuff like that again and not just in a small series. I am surprised that they are still selling their kits with brushed motors these days (to be fair, they package it with a Brushless/Brushed ESC, but they are still using their Tamiya battery connector and the brushed motor plugs).

Good build. It's such an amazing looking chassis, both with and without the upper deck. No MSC and Ni-Cad? ;-) One thing about the Top Force, imagine how many Tamiya 4WD Buggies that have inherited the Star Dish wheels since this release. Later DF-01s and DF-02s and Tamiya still uses these on their new line-up of TT-02B's. Quite amazing to think of.
@wesleydonnelly21414 жыл бұрын
about that problem with speed controller when you did your little test drive, i noticed earlier in the video during the build that when you were pushing the radio control sticks forward and back, i could tell by the sound of the motor that it wasn't spinning up to it's full potential. So i wasn't surprised when later on during your little test that you found this out! Those ESC's are great when they're working properly, but some of them are a pain in the backside to set up perfectly! I rather miss the simplicity of the older manual speed controls! 3 speeds/stages forward, and 3 in reverse. The End! lol Only downside was you had no braking as such! Just reverse and this would de-stabilise the vehicle during stopping, slowing for cornering, but none of that mattered when you were just bashing! More fun! lol

Hey Glen, great video man. Let me ask you something. Those front spindles look like hotshot , big wig ones, is that correct ? I did a cool little mod to my big wig spindles. I have recently built a Racing Fighter DT03 just to get back into this after a 35 year layoff. I got my hands on a Tamiya DT02 ball diff set that can be used to replace the DT03 diff. It looks very similar to the Top Force diff. Difference is it comes with a single Metal ball thrust bearing rather than using using the plastic ball retainer with washers. I am about to start the Top Force build and I will be interested in comparing the dimensions of the two. If they are the same I would think the single thrust bearing would be a better option for longevity

I think it’s had to gauge until the car is built up and you can actually spin the wheels with your hand, I’d say if it’s still tight at that point then you would need to whip them out and slacken them off slightly, but these ball diffs are not meant to spin free if that makes sense 👊🏻
