And yes I was like sure (which was a mistake obv), thinking that it would take max a month or two. We didn’t meet for a while then, we saw each others (I literally begged him to meet) and started acting like a couple but we were not officially one yet. Every time we would talk, his words would give me hope that he will ask me, yet he never did. So I kept waiting and waiting and each time I bring that up, he would say the same things like I want you some stuff like that but don’t expect much from me cause I can’t commit now I’m focused on my self I am not ready…. Until I got so tired and finally had the courage to say enough disrespecting my self and walked away.

Tam, I was in a situationship last year. It was mentally draining. He was broke and took my money. He was a liar. He used to say that "atlest I'm loyal to you Noone is loyal as him bla bla" he was so broke , he Even took 3.5k from me and he asked me to pay a fine too. He used to compare me with other girls. Even though, I moved on from him this year. I blocked him from everywhere. Now he sometimes email me and called me so many times and I didn't replied. That's it. I was in a situationship exactly one year ago. I had a fling before that, but at least with that, things were clear-we weren’t even holding hands, so I knew what it was. I knew what I was doing and why. But with that situationship? It had me start going to therapy, actually working on my self-image and self-worth. It was one of the most emotionally draining things I’ve ever experienced. No surprise, it went up in flames. I realized I was just as much to blame as him, waiting for a narcissistic mf to say the right thing at the right time, but it was never going to happen. I liked a guy/my friend and I proposed him. He rejected me because he said he can’t find any future with me and to be a friend with him. I was being a friend with him after that and also I was a new friend of his friend. I found my friend being so jealous whenever I talk and being grateful to be with his friend. Then after a month, I found him being jealous of every boy with whom I talk to / being a normal friend. I clarified him that I only have feelings for him and not on his friend. I told him to go , it’s fine ( my heart was tearing apart for the first time ). 1) Was I in situationship ? 2) Whatever I did was correct ? If no , then where I did the mistake ? 3) How can I identify that I’m doing to hurt myself next time ?

Omg girl your story is the same as mine but I cut him off completely. Now answers to your questions : 1. Yes, you were in a situationship. 2. You did nothing wrong. When we like/love someone there is always this hope that they will accept us and love back and so we put more efforts and that's fine you are not at fault. 3. Stay away from guys who never give commitment. Like if you confessed your feelings and they say something like "I'm not ready yet and blah blah blah" just know that they are gonna play with your feelings and never commit to you. No matter how much you like them, know your worth and stay away from those guys.

I agree! I’m Polish, and what you’re talking about in your video is incredibly strange to me. In Poland, we don’t have anything like that at all, and there’s no such thing as “dating” for several months. Usually, people go on 1-5 dates, and after that, they decide whether they like the person and want to be in a relationship. A lot of dates end after the first one, but if it gets to the fifth date, it usually means both people like each other and are already together. During this time, there’s no sex either; it’s just about getting to know each other and meeting in places like a café, restaurant, or going for a walk. This idea of dating for months is so strange to me-I don’t even understand what it means. And the concept of a “situationship” is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard of. In the US, it seems like men have set things up completely in their favor-splitting bills 50/50, dating for months with no commitments, and this whole “situationship” thing with no responsibility. It looks like men are just taking, taking, taking! They get a woman’s attention, and I assume also a clean house, cooked meals, sex, and on top of that, you’re paying half the bills! i feel like the conversation around this needs to be more nuanced though. I absolutely do agree situationships are a bad thing overall. However, there are some other things to consider. Sometimes, people just want to have fun without strings attached. Sometimes, people find people attractive enough to be able to enjoy their company and other things but they can't find themselves connecting on a deeper level with that person and thats ok. I think there are so many kinds of relationships human beings have and should have as well try to figure out who we are and what we want. Of course, if you are being treated poorly, that is a different conversation. I think as long as both people are on the same page about the situationship, that's ok. Like, you could consider a four month fling with someone while in a different country a situationship, but it could also be an absolutely beautiful experience. situationships aren't always bad. they can teach you many things about yourself. maybe you don't want anything serious at all, and are just looking for a fun companion. So while I absolutely love this video Tam and agree with your points, I still think it is important to acknowledge we are human beings and are allowed to pursue/enjoy relationships that we know might be temporary, as long as we are not being abused or emotionally damaged from it. :)
