Might have something to do with it being a distraction for the pitcher? Anything can happen. Looks like the ump was just calling time himself to explain what he was doing. The batter should have realized he had already used his timeout. I think he did after it was explained to him. Which is why he didn’t destroy the gatorade cooler in the dugout! lol

It’s funny you say that, never thought of it as a distraction but we may be approaching that as a thing. I can see batters start to make weird motions or even yelling out at pitchers to throw them off. Think equivalent of pitchers changing mechanics to throw off timing of hitters.

Nah, they are good. What's bad is umpires expanding the strikezone calling strikes on balls out of the zone. He forgot he called timeout because he was rattled by that strike call.

imagine if this was game 7 in the world series, a 3-2 count with 2 outs bases loaded down 1 run in the 9 inning and the game gets called cuz of the time clock or this timeout rule.... would that be fair?

I prefer a longer game when I go. If I payed all the money and spent all the time driving I don’t mind watching a 3 hr game. Id be kinda pissed watching a game that ended in 2 hrs flat.
