A word of advice, when passing through an enemy area or area of suspicion, keep you tanks barrel pointed in that direction. Especially when you have a platoon of tanks this tactic can be used well. Having each of the 4 or 5 Tanks pointing their barrels to the left or right makes it easier to identify targets faster. You take a LOT of stress off of your gunner as well.

OMG, your are moving in my hometown. Never seen that many trees and bushes downtown. I have a hard time to recognize any of the places. If you look at wartime pictures most of those building were just hollow ruins at the end of war. Just a hint to your tactics: Never point a cannon at your friends. Always expect the enemy to appear the other direction. You need the time to turn the turret. So better point where you might need to the next second. And in a group everybody takes care of a sector. You might profit from a few lessons in a Panzergarten.

As a warthunder player, get hull down, as your lower plate is your biggest friend. When you have multiple tanks 600m in front of you, get more distance as it's your best friend and the panther VI has 192mm of pen on 100m . If you get in hull dow, you can still get penned near the gunner optics and commander cupola.try to distribute better the work to your crew and the other tanks, as you have 4-5 tanks. i hope this advice helps you, valid cap!

Cap needs to watch some tank movies so he has a clue how to do things. Surely he's not so young or DCS-fixated that he can get / use clock directions "Achtung Panzer 1 o'clock!' as in relative to the hull. His right right right and tank stop are vexing. DRIVER STOP. GUNNER TARGET TANK 1 o'clock!. And that's not even counting his target fixation and micromanaging, when he's supposed to be scanning and maintaining situational awareness. I'm going back to watching GR DCS flight vids.

IL-2 is on sale on Steam so I snagged a copy with some DLC. Hopefully my machine will run it. I think my video card may present problems though (Asus GeForce GT-710 2gb, behind an Intel i7 3.4ghz and 16gb DDDR4).

Too unrealistic without Panzergrenadiers with the Panzers, no way experienced tankers would blunder into woods without infantry support. Goo fun though.

Panther was the best all round tank of WW2 in my opinion, she was almost perfect. A lot of people big up the T-34... and rightly so, it was a fine design.... but the Panther was a lot more technically advanced and finely balanced (once they'd sorted out the teething problems). Most people only know about the Tiger and her 88mm gun but the high velocity 75mm on the Panther was more than capable of knocking out anything the Allies could field. I still love the Tiger though, that 88mm gun was absolutely phenomenal!!

The Panther was more of tank destroyer then an actual medium tank if you can call it a medium at over 40 tons lol. As for the t-34 no it was actually a terrible tank that could never reach its top speed because of its gear box and the driver couldn't actually see anything either when the tank was buttoned up. Finally the t-34 was more a danger to its own crew then it was to any tank as its armor hardness was well over double of any other tank on the battlefield at the time. What's that mean its simple even the 50mm fielded by the pz III in three or four rounds would completely disable the tank without actually any rounds penetrating the tank because of the spalling killing or injuring all the crew.

@@necronoverlord2306 not to mention the god awful welds... you didnt even need to penetrate the t34 to kill it, just the impact of taking rounds oftentimes were enough to deadline the vehicle. The only decent t34s were post war production models and even then, really shitty design if you actually need to use it. Crew quarters were an afterthought and quick egress is an exercise in futility.

You should try WWII tanks in Arma 3. It's a little more arcady but the combined arms is a lot better and the maps of course are designed for viewing from the ground. :)

Cap stop looking back at your tanks when you are suppose to be watching out forward when you are the lead tank. also the flare gun is for night ops to make illumination not to mark. smoke is for marking. and use your binoculars more.

As platoon leader it's his job to keep track of where his platoon is, so yes, he really should be periodically be looking around. Your note about the binos is useful, but poorly worded, you're phrasing it like an order. Instead: "Cap, for better results I'd suggest alternate scanning with and without the binos." You're doing great, Cap. I went to school for this and you'd be comparable to halfway through training, 6-8 weeks or so, and you've only been playing this a few hours. Awesome stuff.

With Tankie being a real tanker, I can't understand why you boys are advancing into contact in single file??, Cap look at old kursk footage and there advancing in line abreast or in V formations, single file whilst creeping up to your starting point is fine but when advancing into contact you boys need to work on your battle formations!
