Great question! We are hiring out of northern Louisiana in the tanker division. If you go for regional-non kosher tanker division home time is 1-2 weeks. If you do OTR tanker division, then you are looking at 3-4 weeks home time. Ultimately you would have even more options if you are open to flatbed or refrigerated.

Yes. The reasoning behind that is because our drivers get on the road driving/training with us pre-CDL Exam which typically amounts to around 10k training miles. Hope that makes sense!

I am deciding between Prime and Cypress flatbedding. I ultimately want to run a small fleet for power only. Any advice? Seems like it comes down to learning how to tarp and driving regional versus waiting sometimes at a warehouse and reading a book or sleeping. Flatbedding would also give me some weekends and holidays off.

Unfortunately this is correct. Most of our tanker business is out of the East/Northeast.

@@PRIMEINCTRUCKING just an update, I just got a call from the prime recruiter saying that in order to qualify for lease purchase I need to be with a trainer for 2 months on the road because since I’ve been working regional for so long I need to get more experience in over the road, this is just ridiculous 15 years driving tractor trailers with an impeccable driving record and she said I need more experience??? Probably I’ll have to teach the trainer that probably have less experience and years driving than me, what a shame prime

We have TNT trainers in all 3 divisions, so we try to pair you with a trainer in the division you choose. For the tanker division, you will also go through Tanker bootcamp to prepare you to operate your own truck!

Hi Scott! In our refrigerated division, solo company drivers start at 48 cpm in a full-size truck and 53 cpm in a lightweight. Good day, I have a question. I'm a current lease operator at prime on the reefer side. Almost going on 2 years with prime and about 5 years otr experience. 5 years getting little tired of reefer and I saw tanker. The job description I love and seems little more physical work involved which I like. I was wondering can a reefer driver transfer to tanker. If so can I take my current lease truck with me, it's a condo or I will have to start over a lease with a different truck? Thanks

Great question! Yes, you have the option to switch divisions. Being able to switch your current lease truck to Tanker is determined on a case by case basis depending on the term of your truck/contract. How much does it cost to have the pumps and/or additional equipment installed on the truck?

Thanks for the question! The hydropak is already installed on the truck and you would need to purchase fittings. It depends on which side of the Tanker business you'd like to go, but anywhere from $300 to $600 for fittings that you put on payments.

Thanks for the question! According to Brett Vonwiller, the manager of the Tanker division, we do not have any Owner Operators with their own authority in the Tanker division. However, we have several Owner Operators who have paid off the truck. It would cost around $5,500.00 to set your truck up for Tanker.

It all depends on if you have had any experience beforehand or not. If not training, the first phase PSD will take 2-4 weeks to get your CDL. The second phase typically take 4 months.

Andrea, Do you have condos on Tanker Division? Or just flat top light weight trucks?

Thanks for the question! We do have condo’s in the tanker division. We do use lightweight trucks in our Tanker Regional routes out of Fort Wayne/Decatur, IN and Bellevue/Sandusky, OH. Some of those loads are loaded at 50K lbs which requires the lightweight trucks which are smaller, and those drivers are around the house more often.
