British and French tanks (along with rarer examples) had already begun that tradition during WW1, wherein many were captured by the Germans.

-In 41 they had the most well rounded tank in the world with the T-34 -There are more T54/55 tanks then any other tank, and theyre still usable and upgradeable today -when the T-64 came out it was the best tank in the world. Great, it has fallen to the way side along with the nation that created it But it was still great in its time
