That was simply fantastic. Abide in the Dao. It is everything and nothing .... to me it is living the middle way, likened to the teachings of Wuwei. 🙏🏻💜🇨🇦

TLDR: Embracing the principles of the Tao, such as softness, stillness, and moderation, leads to balance, contentment, and success in life. 1. 00:00 🌿 The Tao is the all-encompassing force that gives birth to all things, maintains balance in nature, and humans should strive to understand and accept its natural laws. 1.1 The Tao, or natural way, is an all-encompassing force that gives birth to all things, maintains balance in nature, and has endless power. 1.2 The Tao is simple yet profound, elusive and intangible, and gives birth to all things without being consumed by them. 1.3 Animals live and die according to the natural way of the tao without feeling indebted, blaming, or resenting it, and humans should strive to understand and accept the natural laws of nature. 1.4 Nature follows its own natural cycle of growth, adaptation, and survival without needing external direction or intervention. 1.5 People often do not understand the natural principles of yin and yang, leading to surprise when trees die or wild animals do not mate in captivity, and forcing animals to live against their natural way will result in their inability to survive. 2. 05:50 💧 Water is like the Tao, unbiased and non-judgmental, and stillness and softness are essential, while the void is the source of creation uniting all things. 2.1 Water is accommodating, yielding, and essential for life, benefiting all without expecting gratitude, and its strength can wear down stone and metal. 2.2 Water is like the Tao because it is unbiased, non-judgmental, and can overcome the hard and strong, and stillness and softness are essential to the Tao. 2.3 The void is the source of creation, uniting all things and giving rise to the diversity of the world. 3. 09:26 🌿 The tao is the center of creation, connecting sky and earth, appearing muddy at first but becoming clear with time, elusive like floating clouds, understood by ancient sages, and embraced by sagely rulers for peace and harmony. 3.1 The tao is the center of creation, reaching all directions and connecting sky and earth, appearing muddy at first but becoming clear with time, elusive like floating clouds, where all things gather and events emanate, moving unpredictably and changing mysteriously, leaving no tracks or shadows, and understood by ancient sages. 3.2 Sagely rulers in the third millennium BCE ruled with benevolence, embraced simplicity, and flowed with the natural way, bringing peace and harmony to the people. 3.3 Sagely leaders who embraced the dao governed their country by avoiding gossip and illusions, following the principles of the dao, refraining from scheming, living in harmony with citizens, keeping a simple agenda, minimizing desire, and not being burdened by attachments. 4. 12:55 🌿 Embracing the Tao allows one to be at one with nature, leading to virtuous leadership and content citizens without the need for excessive bureaucracy or self-promotion. 4.1 Pengyi, a spirit in tune with nature, traveled effortlessly through the sky and earth, embracing the dao and becoming one with everything. 4.2 The speaker discusses the concept of Tao and how it allows one to be at one with the source of all things, enabling them to wander in the expanse of the limitless and see into the sacredness of all things. 4.3 King Shun's actions spoke for themselves, leading to honest and content citizens, without the need for speeches or strict laws. 4.4 Good government depends on virtuous leadership and acting in accordance with the natural way, eliminating the need for excessive bureaucracy and self-promotion. 5. 16:54 🌿 Embracing the natural way and understanding the principles of the dao leads to success and harmony, while relying on human effort and complexity leads to failure and imprisonment. 5.1 Living according to the natural way, embracing stillness and non-action, and knowing one's limits leads to success and harmony, while relying on human effort and complexity leads to failure and imprisonment. 5.2 Understanding the principles of the dao and the natural way allows for limitless accomplishments, as demonstrated by historical figures who achieved seemingly impossible tasks through their understanding of nature. 5.3 Building walls and using force only leads to rebellion and invasion, while sharing wealth and showing kindness brings loyalty and respect. 6. 20:05 🌿 Embracing softness, knowing one's limits, and acting decisively while maintaining a low profile leads to balance, contentment, and success according to the principles of the dao. 6.1 Pushing yourself beyond your limits can lead to failure, while contentment allows for enjoyment of what you already have. 6.2 Success and failure depend on knowing one's limits and abilities, embracing softness and strength, and being decisive while maintaining a low profile and responding naturally. 6.3 Softness and gentleness lead to balance and contentment, while hardness and competition lead to destruction and defeat. 6.4 Acting rashly leads to failure, while waiting for the right moment to act is key to success according to the principles of the dao. 6.5 Live simply, minimize desire, and govern through non-government to preserve the energy of life and avoid unnecessary burdens. 7. 25:47 🌿 Maintaining inner stillness and contentment leads to mental clarity, physical health, and true happiness, while extreme emotions and desires disrupt harmony and balance. 7.1 Extreme emotions disrupt the natural balance and harmony, leading to mental and physical illness, while being centered and free from desire allows for inner stillness and virtue. 7.2 Achieving mental clarity and inner peace will lead to a healthy body, clear thoughts, and the ability to deal with unexpected challenges. 7.3 True happiness comes from being content with what you have, rather than pursuing fame, power, and wealth. 8. 28:55 🌿 Embrace inner contentment and moderation to achieve health and well-being, as true happiness comes from inner peace and adaptability, not from material possessions or external pleasures. 8.1 Balance your inner nature, maintain moderation, and find contentment to achieve health and well-being. 8.2 True happiness comes from inner contentment, not from material possessions or external pleasures, and those who constantly seek external satisfaction will never find lasting happiness. 8.3 Embracing the wisdom of the ancients requires discipline and detachment from worldly things, allowing for inner peace and adaptability to changing circumstances. 8.4 Those who can hold their inner nature of stillness are connected to the dao and can adapt to any situation while remaining permanent and virtuous. 8.5 Living in harmony with the natural way allows us to live contentedly, be in touch with our instincts, and have clarity of mind and spirit. 8.6 Harming the body, spirit, and energy for the sake of fame and fortune leads to degeneration and exhaustion.

It’s so depressing to hear taoist thoughts on agriculture. As our modern world tries to force consistency on all seasons, and uniformity on all locations.

I find Taoism incompatible with Buddhadamma. Dualism is not compatible with the idea of anatta. But I respect those who are devout Taoists. Nonetheless, I think people - particularly westerners - confuse these two faiths very much. And when I see Buddhists transplanting Taoist ideas into the ideas of the Buddha, it vexes me. It’s like the difference between Hinduism and Buddhism - there are similarities, but they are vastly different philosophically, theologically, ceremonially, and metaphysically.

@@The_oblivionsFind me ONE mention of yin and yang dualist thinking spoken by the Buddha in the Pali Canon. It is of Chinese Daoist origin and was never spoken of by the Tathagata, ever.

Nothing ever exists entirely alone; everything is in relation to everything else," from the Samyutta Nikaya. Yin and yang is not the way, the way is where they meet in the middle. Its the underlying unseen and unknown force that sustains all existence; the way is not 2, or 1. Its both 2 and 1
