smooth glass isnt smooth if you watch closely (500x -1000x) . JBWeld is rated to adhere to silicone products, btw. i work with this vials in a lab on a daily basis and had them fail occasionally. so my bet was on the glass section right under the jbweld to break. i was wrong. fascinating.

Popcorn... I imagine if you filled it with some popcorn and then dumped in enough oil to keep most of the popcorn submerged as soon as there was a failure in the pressure dropped all of the popcorn would instantly pop... Popcorn is a great idea.

Don't laugh! I had a tierod seperate from my front spindle years ago! I took a roll of rebar tie wire (same as Baling wire) and wrapped it in figure 8 fashion around the part and made it home! yes, a few stands of the wrap popped, but enough held on to get me home!

Great video! I would like to see how far a test tube would launch when the plug gave way, if it was pointed up, or 45 degrees . Steam under 250lbs is like 435 degrees Fahrenheit, I would imagine that had something to do with the J.B.Weld failure.. it doesn't take heat very well.

I have tried to do them upside down and had problems with that, trying to heat the tube on the side where it is the thinnest. Plus I have to make sure it wouldn't fly off and go through a window or something. lol Gotta be careful.

As for your torcher tests, you could redo them now that you have a good high speed camera compared to when you did most of them years ago, most of which I have watched.
