Thanks for this! I'm trying to learn to do the splits for a Zensual dance class and they charge ridiculous prices! I've spent my whole life without sports and just desk jobs and Im trying to learn to take care of myself. Sometimes those prices are discouraging (because I have to pay for healthy foods, new clothes as I lose weight,etc lifestyle changes are expensive!) and I think that its' amazing that they have a passion to help people! Thank you!

I did it, it worked so well. My hands were like 5 inches away from the ground when I started, did the stretch and then I could easily touch my toes. More people need to hear about this.

I was told about that stretch by my physio/osteo, but because I don't have the level of flexibility that you guys do, I can't grab my ankle to do the stretch. I tried the sitting on the legs version, but I can't put my arms back to rest on my hands either. I was at the gym and actually put one foot back onto the Swiss ball, which allowed me to do the stretch. My physio agreed with that option, and also said I could use a chair or the arm of the couch to get myself into the position to stretch my quads. Just wanted to share that option in case anyone else has the same struggle. Perhaps if I do it enough, I'll get to the point where I can hold my ankle!

Please be careful. You might have had a common spine injuries and associated unavoidable stiffening (or fusion(s)) of it. Be gentle to yourself please. I bet you have pains in the lower back too. Am I correct?

If you do that quad stretch lying down with the other leg bent you won't get that arch in the back that comes from tightness in the area. More effective and safe for people prone to such issues.
@paulpolpiboon95357 жыл бұрын
great tip; this is actually ancient knowledge of the Shaolin, they knew it relaxes when opposite leg muscle is tensed. They do a static squat with the feet spread far apart to activate quad tension AND stretch the hamstrings simultaneously.

I looked up this stretch because I did this exact thing today while walking. the back of my legs felt tight and fatigued after only half a mile and my back felt an ache. Normally I'd want to stretch the part that feels tight, BUT as exactly as you demonstrate, I instead stretched my quads (since I realized I never do that much) I then resumed walking pain free. yey!
