Mine has worked flawlessly and is the early serial number. No issues. No jamming. I did replace the firing spring to a 4.5 lbs. I would do even lighter. But made a noticeable improvement. Great video, thanks for making it.

Same here. I did replace the slide spring and firing pin. My only problem now is the firing pin power. Some ammo cannot ignite correctly. I just notice that yesterday with Scorpio ammo. The primer is more harder of CCI or PMC.

Just one suggestion. It would be slightly better if you use either a nylon hammer face or perhaps a brass hammer face. Hitting the pins with hardened hammer face can over time deform the end of the pins or other parts if you hit them with a hardened face hammer. I know you've done the disassembly many times, you know how hard you could hit the parts without damaging them, perhaps. Otherwise its hard to see into the frame of the gun, maybe add a little bit of lighting directly in to the frame. Otherwise great job, we have a lot of novice gun owners this day in time.

Yeah, I swapped spots for better lighting on the gun I disassembled right after this one.

Not sure. Because the TM9 uses an SA/DA mechanism, it may not cross over with any other pistols.

Thanks for the great video. I have a favour to ask of you. I have a Tara TM-9 and I need a trigger assembly but no parts are available in North America. Is there any chance you could compare a Glock trigger bar and trigger to the Tara TM-9? I was going to order one for a Glock and see if it works but if you could show them side by side that would be great. Thanks and great channel.

So just an update on mine that I ordered, I did receive it Tuesday however there was a crack in the frame where the pin is above the trigger. I sent it off for warranty. It doesn’t look like a manufacturer defect, but more like someone forced the pin in and cracked the frame. I guess I’ll find out more after North Sylva receives it. Such a shame as I was hoping to get to the range with it, but at least my WK180C I ordered will be here next week

I had my Tara to the range today. Failures I had: stovepipes, fail to reset trigger, slide lock back with a round still in the mag, failure to go into battery. I'm impressed at the variety of failures I got.

@@Huntinggearguy mine is a different version from the one in the video (its the one they recently started importing in the US) and its been pretty flawlessly reliable. @counterfeit60893 жыл бұрын
@@brandonrayner5253 yeah, get the TM9X if you can. It's way better. Just make sure you shoot to reset because that way you'll get a fairly average single action trigger not an absolutely terrible double action trigger, I think thats an issue that pretty much all models of the pistol have.

For some reason mine doesn't always restrike. The trigger doesn't reset. Only after shaking it around it sometimes resets itself. Does anybody know what part is the issue?
@Huntinggearguy Жыл бұрын
The part where it says "Tara" on the side. A less snarky response: check your trigger components to see how much resistance there is in there and consider polishing the rougher surfaces (but not the sear). Realistically, they'd need a heavier trigger reset spring to get better reliability from the system but that'd make the trigger EVEN shittier.
@JonJonGTA Жыл бұрын

Curious: Why do you rack the slide to test the trigger pull weight? This isn't a Glock, or anything like one, which is partially cocked when a round is chambered and cannot be uncocked without firing it. The pistol is never cocked when you release the trigger. Was that just habit on your part? Also, you didn't test the short reset single action trigger. This is a military contract duty pistol reminiscent of the "wonder nines", think S&W 659, Beretta 92F, and the Sig P226. Pistols of that genre were SA/DA meant to be carried with a round in the chamber and the DA pull was the safety, no trigger blade like a Glock which is partially cocked. Pistols of that genre were noted to have excellent triggers but the DA pull could be in the 9, 10, 11, and even 12 pound range precisely because that was the safety. This is a duty pistol that merges the old DA/SA hammer fired trigger action with a striker fired design. It is unique in that regard and other experienced reviewers, such as Graham Baates, have actually praised the trigger. Lightening the DA trigger pull, as you endeavored to do, approaches reducing safety in a pistol of this design. Granted, those that wish to turn it into some kind of target pistol might like that. He said "When you first handle it, it does not feel like a nice trigger by internet gun snob standards. However as a fighting gun or duty gun..." in his table top review. In his shooting review he said: "Even though it's a double action trigger...the reset kicks you right to where you need to be, that wall is predictable. It made for very predictable shots." A caveat here is that he was reviewing the Tara TM-9X, which has some differences, possible "upgrades". The results of his trigger test: "In my opinion, it's a good gun." He did have some troubles with the reset later, the trigger didn't reset, just as you experienced. But that was during dry firing. At any rate, for "old school" DA/SA" shooters, such a trigger makes sense for a duty weapon. I have both versions of the pistol and have no issues, I won't be trying to lighten the trigger pull on either of them. But I am one of those "old school" guys... As for the Glock springs and guide rods fitting, that's really a bonus on a pistol where parts availability is questionable, so I am really very glad you verified that fact.

I think I've been clear that I believe the gun's design is poor and the selection of materials isn't great either. They're OK if you get one for cheap, but they don't measure up to pistols at higher price points. If you want someone to stroke your ego and tell you it's the best gun ever, go check out someone else's channel or make your own video to convince the world.
@FernandoChaves3 жыл бұрын
@@Huntinggearguy LOL! No ego, and I certainly don't think it's the best gun ever. If you don't like comments and questions, ignore them. I am fascinated by pistol design and production. Personally, I love conversations on such things. I was just chatting with one of the designers today by email. Have a great day!

..I got one from Atlantic Firearms just a few weeks ago....I agree 100 per cent about that trigger....actually, I think the terribly hard pull needed to fire the darned thing is due to the striker spring, not the trigger assembly itself (I have to use both index fingers on the trigger to get it to fire some times...) anybody have any suggestions...??? nice gun; pain in the a** to fire it, though....
