Thx for your knowledge and vids. Learning amp repair is a pass down trade and guy like you and barevids are rare. People complaining about 75$ is the same reason us techs complain about Oscope, rework station, solder iron tip and test equipment prices I think it's fair and would pay.

I have repaired a few of these as well. My theory is the failure is related to shorting between the speaker output leads and the remote lead. What I haven't determined if it's internal arcing or external loose/strands. The latter is my strong suspicion though.

Yes, that will send rail voltage to the IC that the remote turns on. At that point, you will need a TPS7A6601, 4.7 ohm SMD resistor, and a 4148 SMD diode.

You can contact Taramps and if they have enough stock they may sell you a board. If it's a remote circuit failure (IC9- TPS7A6601) then that is repairable.

I see Mouser has the TPS7A6601 in stock and I would bet Digikey has them also if you are here in the States. You may also need to change the 4R7 supply resistor and L4148 diode. This is if NO LEDs come on or try to come on.

I have left comments on this channel in the past and they were not all "sunshine & roses", however please believe me when I say that I don't try to come off as a negative Nancy through all of my comments, honestly, I just call it as I see it and in that vein, here I go again; $35.00 USD for an (one piece) LDO regulator is absolute INSANITY. I hope that you and Todd can locate a more reasonably priced supplier for this particular component. As Todd alluded to in this video, clearly these regulators are being priced at ransom prices. It is just nuts to hear that this is taking place... I'm sorry guys. Good luck with finding a down-to-earth priced source for these voltage regulators. Fred
@ellensburgamplifier2 жыл бұрын
@@electronicengineer Thank you Fred. I will never pay these prices unless I am forced to keep business rolling smooth. It is unfortunate that I have to pass this price gouging onto the customers when I have to pay such outrageous prices for something that just cost a few dollars in 2020.
