I found a tiny jumping spider in my car and got super excited until it jumped onto the floor and I couldn’t find him because I’m legally blind. A couple days later he found me again and tried getting my attention only I thought it was just a hair on my arm and I killed it by accident. It was heartbreaking. I’m pretty scared of spiders but this one stole my heart.

Kat, thanks to you & your awesome videos, I finally became a jumping spider 🕷 mama this past July! I have 2 captive bred female Regal jumpers, & a wild caught female Bold jumper! None of the 3 are fully grown yet tho, but both Regals have molted 3 times since I got them, & the Bold finally molted for me! I love them all so much, & they definitely keep me busy & quite entertained 😂

in australia our jumping spiders are mainly maratus but that includes the peacock jumpers which are super cool

Audaxes r great beginner jumpers but they dont sell well cuz they’re so common in the wild most knowledgable keepers would probably just wait for one to pop up in the wild that isn’t an adult female and keep it

Jumping spiders are the only spider type that I have a trusted alliance with Many times ive needed to move one and let them hitch a ride on my finger, and even the larger ones have never tried to bite me. They even look right at you too, like "Aight dude im trustin you, bring me to my next destination". They just sorta politely scoot on to your hand, look at you for a sec, then scoot back off once you set them down again. Little buggers have personality, I swear.

Not sure if they can be found captive bred, but you need to add phidippus putnami and phidippus princeps to your phidippus collection. I've had the privilege of having both and they are absolutely wonderful species and I would love to be able to find them again. My putnami was named Sprite and my princeps was named Esmerelda. I had a wonderful orange phase regius girl that looked a lot like your new regius girl. I, sadly, lost her recently to old age. Her name was Rose (nickanamed Rosalie). All 3 were such awesome spoods and are greatly missed. Congrats on your new spoods.

Having kept Nikites, I'd recommend swapping the Carolinensis and Nikites's enclosures. Nikites needs a more arid environment, and Carolinensis does better in a humid one. 😊 Plus Nikites is a small species that really struggles with climbing as they age. (Mine made a safety line of web around his entire enclosure but it would save their energy to make it for them with lace/mesh) And take lots of baby photos! They change colors a lot as they grow!

I got my second Regius a week ago. My first one passed a month ago and it was a male. He exceeded his life expectancy living to be just over 1,5 years. Although i got him when he already was half a year old. This new one is a female and she was soooo tiny compared to when i first got my male one. But i believe she’ll be slightly bigger then my first. Her name is Pumpkin Spice, because she has sooo much orange and she is very sassy and jumps alot😂

Gotta love jumpers! I’ve got a trio of bold jumpers currently, all found outside. One I found on my car and took home, one was part of my arachnid biology class’s specimen collection this semester but we had so many P. audax already that my professor let me take it home, and the last one was also part of that collection and was going to be released since the semester was over. It gets really cold here and I couldn’t bring myself to just let the little guy freeze outside! First one’s a female and her name is Refried Bean(in reference to my last jumper, a sylvan jumping spider named Baked Bean), while the other two currently aren’t named.

2yrs ago I moving into my new house and I love working in my garden as I will always find jumping spiders but when you said so small I am like O_O I wish ours were that big as here in Australia our jumping spiders are teeny tiny tho I have been looking at getting a jumping spider called a Giant bark jumping spider as they are pretty much the biggest ones we have in Australia at about 16mm also would love a Peacock Male tho they sadly only live for maybe 3 - 4 months so might get to sad getting one
