Thanks for giving this poor lost fellow a home. After such a close shave with the dumpster it couldn't have ended up in better hands. I don't know if you have experience with wild caught spiders but when you're bringing one into your collection its a good idea to give it as close an inspection as possible with a magnifying glass to check for mites, looking all over the spider but paying particular attention to the top and sides of the chelicerae where they join the carapace, and if you can get a look underneath by putting the spider in a glass or transparent bowl or container to see the folds between the coxae of the pedipalps near the mouth, all the better. I'm sure you've already examined the spider but it might be worth another check with this in mind if you weren't considering the possibility first time around. From the excellent close ups you showed I didn't see anything but of course you will be able to see far better than I. It really is just a precaution, but one worth taking when you have other pets. Congrats on your new spider .

Would it tho? spider doesnt know its in a bin and needs to get out. after the scare of being picked up and tossed in I think it would probably just bolt for the nearest cover and hide right there, in the bin. then get crushed when someone put more rubbish in or it got emptied by the truck . but none of that matters anyway. what upset me is how it just shows no respect for the spider. its "i dont want this thing so ill just throw it in the bin" when a kinder person would straight away think of it as a animal that deserves some consideration and ok if they dont want it in their house they would find somewhere to let it go outside in a garden or some woods or wherever. to throw it in the bin is to treat it as rubbish not a living thing.

@@SuperLoops so you saying you wouldn't be freaked out if a spider is on your hand?. Because I would've but I would not put it in the thrash
@SuperLoops5 жыл бұрын
@@acanthita2978 lol I wouldnt be freaked out at all. I love spiders and I have lotsve pet tarantulas. I dont handle them very much but only bcus its safest and best for the spiders that way. if a spider gets scared while its out of its enclosure it could run and hide or get dropped or fall and hurt itself, big tarantulas are actually pretty delicate to falls and impacts. but some of my very calm spiders that I know wont get scared and bolt I have no problem picking them up and handling them.
@ereynolds46375 жыл бұрын
Hey Kat! Keep in mind that wild tarantulas are most likely harboring some sort of parasite or other not so good thing that you do not want your other tarantulas to get, so be careful! Also that could be an indicator to what the white residue is.

I've kept 5 of these lil fellas. They've made the most interesting and expansive burrows in my collection and most seem to dig along the walls of their enclosures(which is amazing cause I can see them). Their only problems are that they go dormant for winter regardless of indoor temperatures and humidity so for 2-4 months you basically have a pet hole and they can sometimes burry themselves for a molt.

5:05 - 5:45 Ah, so this is how you bath your tarantulas! I always wondered.. Btw, I think it would be good to add the name(s) of the species shown on the video in the description. And why not a little text on the video too when you introduce the creature the first time. I'm not sure if you are already doing this though, but it would (=will) definitely help us common mortals to follow what we are watching. It's so much easier when you can read those latin names, compared to if you just hear them. PS. Sorry my english; not my native language. Great video and nice save there, Kat! Keep up the good work and have a nice day! :)
