This is great advice! I’m going to try this. I don’t feel I have target panic, at least not right now, but I like this as far as a drill. If for no other reason then maintaining consistency. Very helpful my friend, thank you sir! I look forward to more of your videos!

I have just discovered your videos and I think they are really good and helpful. This one on target panic has described my problem. I can nock an arrow and come to full draw when I'm not looking at something I'm going to shoot. But as soon as I try to pick a spot on a target and concentrate on it then draw I freeze about 2 or 3 inches short of my anchor point. I've dropped bow weight twice but hasn't really helped. I know it's sociological but it's almost to the point of just throwing up my hands. I'm going to try what you said about picking a spot starting the draw then closing my eyes. Heck it's sure worth a try. I love traditional archery and I don't want to give it up. Thanks for the help.

@GaryShaffer-g8b Yes. Lots of people struggle with this. Including myself sometimes even after decades of shooting. Good luck and just keep plugging away. It will come to you when you least expect it.

In the video you talk about target panic is basically anything that's distracting you in the shot. I am curious on your thought on this - discracting you from what? Like, what are you trying to focus on that is distracted? the target? Full draw? etc? I don't have a problem short drawing, I can hold anchor all day, but then will sometimes dump the bow when I'm ready to shoot because I'm done with the shot. So, what are you thinking about when you're not distracted? (*if that makes sense)

"Distraction" may not be the best characterization. " target panic" is better defined as anything that takes away from your normal, smooth and calculated shot process. "Dumping your bow" could be as simple as a glitch between anticipating the shot and actual release. Any of these things are considered "target panic". I actual hate those words. The only thing I " focus" on during the shot is the target. Everything else becomes second nature with good mechanics. The mechanics can get out of wack by something as simple as a bow that's to heavy, concentrating on reaching a certain point of full draw or wind blowing. Learning or "relearning" good mechanics can sometimes be done by the method I described in the video. Hope this helps. Any more questions please just ask. I'll try to help. Shoot straight!! Tim
